On a hot sunny afternoon, we started our 2:30 hour road journey to Hirakud Dam. Lush green pastures filled with white grass, ready to plant rice fields took all the melancholy away. Enroute, we stopped at Burla to pick local snack "Singhda - Chana and Chawal Bara" . We reached the starting point of the dam, which is the largest dam in Asia. As the entry to dam release gates is forbidden, we drove to the other side which is a stretch of about 7 Kms. And this stretch offers a panoramic view of water on one sides and greens on the other. Driving through this stretch, is a pleasure in itself. We reached at about 6 pm, an opportune time to make us of the golden hour sky light. By the time we reached, weather had turned slightly cloudy and sky was a melange of colours. We thoroughly enjoyed the calm and serene evening in the lap of clouds and loved being photographed by lights in the sky.
