The Great Dank North! #BucketList2019

Me and couple of friends started our motorcycles and started our journey to the mighty North Sikkim. Our first stop was Lachung, a mountain village. We reached Mangan where we collected our passes, and fueled up as it was the last petrol station for that region. Couple of kilometers ahead Chungthang was our halt, and from chungthang one road parts into two, taking you to Lachung and Lachen. We took Lachung route first, and i suggest you all to do so if you're ever going towards North Sikkim. We had booked a lovely homestay where we enjoyed bonfires and star gazing.

Our agenda was to reach Yumthang Valley and Zero Point. The day was amazing and so were the views. After hours of bumping and riding we reached Yumthang Valley, a.k.a The Valley of Flowers. It was indeed a peaceful day surrounded by majestic mountains, and flowers. You could also enjoy natural hot water baths. We, sadly couldn't reach zero point as the roads were not cleared. We made our way down to our homestay, had our lunch and then left for Lachen, the halt for Gurudongmar Lake.

The time was 5:36 am, temperature 10°C. We started off for Gurudongmar Lake. 85% of the road was unpaved. The weather was pleasant, again the views were mind blowing, the roads were tough and challenging. We reached Thangu, the last stop where you could grab something  to eat before heading off. Be absolutely sure to stamp all your passes on this route. From the last checkpost to the lake, surprisingly the road is smooth. Few moments later, we reached Gurudongmar Lake, the lake was frozen, the sky was clear, and the sun was out. Our day just got better.
We left for Lachen and stayed one more night. Everyone was happy, the sense of achievement  was overwhelming, so we ordered some beers, and raised our glasses for the amazing journey we just completed.
