Zero point also known as Yume Samdong, Zero Point stands at an altitude of 15,300 ft above mean sea level.The place is called Zero Point because this is where civilian road ends and civilians are not allowed to go beyond this point. The international border of China lies at a shouting distance from here.The beautiful confluence of three rivers, surrounding snow-clad mountains, and marvelous scenic views make Zero Point Sikkim one of India's best places to visit.The panoramic views of pristine mountain beauty covered with crisp snow is majestic and beautiful.On the left of the Zero Point stands the souring Dongkila Peak, while to its left is the Khargula Peak.The area remains covered with thick snow most times of the season and it is considered to be one of the best places in Sikkim to enjoy snow.Since it lies in a protected area, valid permits are required to visit Zero Point. They can be obtained from the tourism office in Gangtok or District Administrative Center at Mangan, or at the Chungthang Sub-Divisional Magistrate's Office.. Wear adequate warm clothing.There are temporary stalls selling everything from coffee to Maggi to alcohol and other hot food.
