Yes.. you read it right.
There is a place on earth which is above clouds and they fondly call it "Vatta"..
"Vatta" or Vattakanal is the sister of Kodaikanal.
Since Kodaikanal is largely commercialized you don't get the peace of an hill station there anymore, hence we chose this small hamlet for our peaceful stay.
We had this place as a base to explore around Vatta and Kodaikanal and then come back to some peace after the touring and to relax.
If you are looking for luxury, then please choose Kodaikanal as there are no hotels here. We need to stay as a guests in the local's house.
Since i have always been a budget traveler, i just loved staying with the locals and to be among them.
There are few small restaurants to eat, but we preferred the home cooked food from the host of our homestay and it was ofcourse delicious than any other hotel food we tried there.
I am not here to review the places in Kodaikanal as most of the bloggers have already written about it. I am here to just describe, how i felt staying at this amazing place.
We went to Vatta from Bengaluru without any prior bookings during the ramzan holidays in June. We enquired the locals there, after seeing some 7-10 homestays finally got a full house with an awesome view.
We stayed there for 4 nights for ₹.800/- per day and it was the cheapest i have ever paid for stay during any of my travels. The house had two bedrooms and the furnishing was neat and tidy. There was a fire place too inside. This came handy because the weather was damn cold even in June.
Vattakanal falls was hardly 500 mts from the homestay and our mornings were fun to walk up to the falls and get some clicks.
If you are looking for some peaceful place to stay, then do choose this hamlet and you will thank me later.
