Look.. I'm flying!

This was my second trip to Bali, and I was excited to cover all the places I couldn’t see the last time. This time my itinerary included Uluwatu, the up-and-coming Nusa islands, Ubud (I was there the first time around too, but I so love this place) and a few temples nearby.

Day 1

Day 1&2: Uluwatu

Uluwatu is known for it's awesome cliff-side views and gorgeous surf breaks. It has some beautiful beaches and can be explored on a bike or a car. The roads are well maintained, making it easy to go around. You can spend an entire day just beach-hopping!

Day 2

The plan for Day 1 was to see the sunset from Uluwatu temple, but our flight got delayed and all we could do was check out some cool cafes instead for dinner.

The next day, we decided we would do only the “touristy” stuff since this was our only day here.

Places visited – Uluwatu Temple, a cultural park dedicated to Lord Vishnu (extremely touristy – can be skipped!) and some beaches.

Before we knew it, it was evening, which meant – time to partayy! We went to The Single Fin, which is a cliff top bar and known for its late night parties on Sunday. We also checked out a neighboring lounge which had a Spanish-themed night.

Day 3 - 5: Nusa Islands

Day 3

Just off of the coast of Bali, around 45 minutes by a boat, are the Nusa islands – Nusa Ceningan, Lembongan and Penida (in increasing order of sizes!)

After researching a bit on boat companies, I decided to settle with Scoot and booked our tickets online. All the boats stop at Lembongan before proceeding to the other Nusa islands, and we decided to base ourselves here.. Spent the day exploring this island on rented bikes – the roads are just gorgeous!

Places visited – Devil’s Tear, Mangroves and Beaches

Day 4

A short boat ride away is Nusa Penida. We booked a boat at the harbor and went to explore this place for a day. On reaching there we rented a car, and I am really glad we did because the roads are treacherous!

Places visited - Kelingking Beach, Angel’s Billabong, Broken beach and Crystal bay

The famous "T-Rex" beach!

Day 5

Nusa Ceningan is connected to Lembongan by a Yellow bridge, and I explored this place in half a day on the bike. This place is really tiny and known for its blue waters and cliff diving!

Places visited – Blue lagoon (I have never seen a water so blue!) and random cute cafes where people were cliff diving from.

At the end of Day 5, we took a boat (Blue Water Express) back to Bali, and were transferred to Ubud in a cab.

Day 6

Day 6 – 9: Ubud

I love Ubud!! Such a vibrant and lively place! The cafes, the food, the rice fields, the busy streets, the temples, the vibe ... I love everything about this place! And the best thing, you can find really peaceful accommodation options, complete with rice fields, just few meters away from the main road.

Side note – The night we reached Ubud, I literally ran to this amazing Italian place called Mamma Mia. I was there during my first visit too... The pizzas are to die for!

Day 6 was a bit of local sightseeing around Ubud – Saraswati temple, Goa Gajah temple

The Tegalalang rice fields can be skipped if you are like me and do not like overly crowded and touristy places. Head over to the rice fields at Jatiluwih instead.

Evening was devoted to café-exploring and pub-hopping. Ubud is known for its amazing food scene.

Day 7

Day trip to Nungnung waterfall, Ulun Danu Beratan temple, Handara gate and the rice fields at Jatiluwih.

Day 8

The art market would easily take most of the day if you are into shopping! Evening we headed over to Campuhan Ridge walk for a scenic and easy hike.

Day 9

After a delish breakfast at Watercress café and a visit to the spa, we packed our bags and headed to the airport. Ah! Was an amazing trip!

Will be back again, Bali!! :)
