Day 1

This was a trip being undertaken to show up for a friend's gathering in the mountains. Even though I live right next to the mountains, a trip to the mountains is always exciting. Thus, began our journey from Nazira Assam to Hawalbagh Uttarakhand. From the flight, we witnessed the might Mt. Everest.

Day 2

After a night's rest at Delhi, we left for Uttarakhand in the morning at 10. We had done the mistake of getting a local driver to save some money. It is now in retrospect do I know what a big mistake it was. It is suggested that you get a good driver from Ola/Uber and take a confirmation from the driver that he knows how to drive in the hills.

After an extremely troublesome ride, we reach our destination at Hawalbagh, Almora, Uttarakhand.

Day 3

On Day 3, we woke up and had a hearty breakfast with the complete gang. Thereafter we undertook a few exciting activities through the day such as chilling by the river, bath under the waterfall and Maggie with a view.

Day 4

The fourth day, we decided to trek upto the Kasar Devi temple. Sounds easy pesy but it almost took the life out of us, so I definitely do not suggest it to anyone. Though the good thing about it was that we passed through some beautiful villages where time is still good, nani's and dadi's still clean the pulses before storing them, kids still enjoy playing random items as instruments and people still store over riped fruits on their terrace for the monkeys.

Day 5

After an unsuccessful trek, we were determined to do something rememberable before we left for our homes. So we went looking for the sun temple. And it was a sight to behold.

This was certainly one of those trips where you wing it but it did turn out to be memorable. Anyone looking to go to Almora, must plan a day or two at Hawalbagh.
