If you are looking for a relaxing weekend or a peaceful couple of days from the din of the city life and you are settled in Mumbai, then Daman is the right place to be in. I am sure you won't be upset. And to top it, if you love the sea, this trip definitely will not be a damp squib. Though I have lived my life in the coastal belt, yet I never seem to have had enough of the sea. There is the Devka beach in Nani Daman as well as the Jampore beach in Moti Daman, which recedes during the low tide and you can walk kms in to the beach, and trust me that's an awesome feeling.

When you are on Devka beach you have an option to horse ride, but on the Jampore beach there are a plethora of options like buggy ride, boat ride, and if you want some adrenalin rush, then you must do the para sailing, which doesn't cost much, just Rs 500 pp. If you are a foodie there is a lot in store for you. There are shacks lined up on the Jampore beach by the Daman and Diu administration, that dish out some lip smacking stuff for you in veg as well as non-veg options. And if you are the one who loves his drink, then you can also order any drink of your choice on the beach, its dirt cheap, but stay away from spirits.

While on your stay in Daman, some must visit sights are the light house and fort both in Nani and Moti Daman, the Bom Jesus Church for its Portuguese architecture and the wide expanse of the beaches of course.

Don't venture out late if you are put up on the Devka beach. It goes without saying that's something you must avoid.

We took the train from Virar to Vapi and there are many beautiful landscapes that you will get to see on the way, specially the Vaitarna river. After reaching Vapi we took an auto rickshaw to Sandy Resort. If you are new to the place, the autowallas will charge you a bomb. Never give more than Rs 150 for the ride up to Devka beach.
