Matheran is Asia's only automobile free hill station.
Imagine a place where no vechile is allowed-not even a bicycle.
It has a narrow gauge railway line which connects matheran Hill station to Neral.
How to reach Matheran?
From Mumbai take a Karjat bound local train and get down at Neral station. After reaching Neral station you will find a lot of shared Taxis which will drop you at dasturi point. Beyond Dasturi point no vechile is allowed, you can walk along the rail and reach Matheran in about 30 mins.
The walk is through the jungles full of lush green wood and you will enjoy every bit of it. You can also opt for a horseback it a man pulled rickshaw rinse along a mud track.
