Shimla- the queen of mountain valleys and the land of scenic beauty. Enwreathed in green, with quaint rays of setting sun from behind the mountains highlights how mysterious the nature is. Every atom of air is so pious and refreshing, away from the hustling of cities. The pleasant weather, the clear sky, balmy breeze and chirruping of birds- a rare sight in metropolitan cities. Each second slows down to several nanoseconds, and with every breath we realize the significance of the invisible but indispensable fresh air-the oxygen.

Strolling on mall road under the gaze of stars or jogging with the rising sun, brings us close to nature, to its simplicity. With no honking of cars or black carbon monoxide from trucks, the brain tends to calm down to a new you. Deep silence and mystical landscapes brings us in sync and harmony with nature.

So get set going for a weekend escape or a month long one, the choice is yours!

For those with a sweet tooth, coconut gajak from local vendors, the big red cherries to peaches (also known as toshe here) and apricots are worth savoring.

If you are the shopping feet; then mall road, Tibetan market, Lakkad Bazaar and lower bazaar are a must head to.

For the artistic souls visit to ‘The Gallery’ on mall road itself, but not on Mondays it’s closed. Do visit the church. Create a memory on top of scandal point, by performing in karaoke night. If you are an adventure freak then go to Narakanda or Kufri for ski.

Have the feel of travelling in toy train. And don’t forget to catch a glimpse of apple gardens in the lap of Shimla.

For the nature lovers, lush green valley is a must visit.

Those with a spiritual and a religious spirit, ‘Jaku Temple’ is a divine place to be and have fun with monkeys.

For the scholars, Indian Institute of Advanced Studies is a must. A British palace turned into an academic institute. The beauty of well -maintained gardens is a must see. The palace in itself is worth an explore and the huge library they have.

The foodies have numerous options to binge on mall road. From varied momos to south Indian at Sagar Ratna, to dominoe’s, and the Chinese platter at several restaurants. Try eating at restaurant Alpha and Punjabi Tadka. Have fun of eating at the shelter homes (varshashalika) that are there on every 1km distance.

At the end of day you will discover the newer version of yourself. Feel refreshed after being in the lap of nature and seize your day. The enchanted beauty mesmerized me and the lyrical words were penned down:

THE MOUNTAIN TOP

Climbing the sturdy steep

urges to weep,

but, what if the journey

is abandoned in between.

What about the view

from the highest mountain peak ?

that is beguiling and alluring

but no trace of one

to commend!

What about the narrations

of courage and brawn ?

but no fellows to embrace !

What about the spirit

of rugged and robust ?

that these mountains

announce in galore..

How about the profound power ?

that comes from within

after reaching on top;

Let ‘I’ be ‘the’ epitome

to these interrogations

by elevating the standards

and creating new benchmarks

because there awaits a throne

to be conquered.!

From where the sky’s view distincts,

the wind bows down in applaud,

other hill tops picture timid,

and the crown of eminence

coruscating in rays of sun

that proclaims to be won.!

Contemplating about ‘these’

on journey to mountain top,

the paradigm of pre-eminence

scampers me towards the goal.
