Located on Munroe island, it has a gorgeous homestay to take away all your urban stress. Munroe island is in reality not a single landmass, but a group of mostly small islands which are connected by a network of canals.
Thickly covered in coconut palms and other trees, the islands are blessed with rich flora and fauna. The property along with its budget sister property Munroe Eco Camp are located on two of these adjoining islands.
With wooden rustic cottages on stilts, it has two plush rooms with attached bathrooms that give uninterrupted views of the lake and its surroundings.
Although you can have the entire island to yourself, you can also book just one room while the other room gets booked by not more than one other couple. The island thus restricts the number of guests to 4, ensuring complete privacy for its guests. While on the island, you can choose to take a swim in the lake when you feel like it or spend a lazy afternoon fishing along canals on tiny country boats in the open backwaters. Local staff also enjoy taking visitors out on farm walks to learn about farming techniques such as toddy tapping and farming below lake level. Vini’s farm is also a haven for bird watchers as it offers ample opportunities to spot species such as woodpeckers, kingfishers, herons and snakebirds etc. They can also arrange for water-related activities such as kayaking, fish farming or fishing for seafood etc.
Run by an environmentally conscious couple, Aram and his wife Vinita, it was inspired by Aram’s dad who was a Conservator of forests. A student of hospitality and management, Aram wanted to nurture his childhood love for nature by offering a truly out-of-the-ordinary experience for his guests. Pampering them with personalised services and making them live life king-size without compromising on sustainability, he planned this venture as a surprise gift to his wife.
Encouraging responsible rural tourism, Vini’s farm provides income to the locals and also teaches the local youth about organic farming and sustainability. Completely in tandem with nature, a holiday here will be exploring the beauty of this exotic island while experiencing utmost relaxation in the lap of nature.
