What to do when you have one day in Palakkad

Tripoto

Palakkad is the largest district in Kerala with a total area of 4480 sq km and comprising of 1452 villages and 63 Taluks. From Thrissur it is an hour away by train and can take up to two hours by car. It has two stations, the Palakkad town station situated in the center of the market and the main station from where the other inter state trains ply.If you're going by train I would advise leaving early so that you can browse the markets in the city prior to having lunch. It's also advisable to have your own mode of transport if you want to go to the interior parts of the district. Frequent buses do however ply from the station to Malapuzzha dam and the Rock garden.

Along the way there were these trees where the branches had interwined around each other making them sturdy enough to climb on

The food in Palakkad was super delicious and we stopped at this instagrammable bakery for lunch where we had porottas and pepper chicken

We then went to the rock garden where several structures were made out of broken ceramic plates and mugs or old tiles

This was my favorite structure from the rock garden which was made from waste fuse boxes

It ended with a trip to the aquarium which shuts by 8pm following which we went to Food court to grab a quick dinner before calling it a day. I would advise you to not put your hand in the pond surrounding this as it contains an alligator.
