Udaipur, Rajasthan – 'Venice of the East'

Udaipur – city of lakes as it is known to most of us is a warm, lovely and welcoming place with open arms! It's a stunning location, with rich cultural background and lots of trails of the history left behind. I visited this city recently for the first time for a close friend's wedding ceremony. My journey started from Delhi, took a train – Mewar Express from Nizammudin Railway Station – in the evening at 7 pm on 17 May, 2015. It's close to 15 hours of journey by rail, distance being 650 km almost. I met a lovely lady with her daughter in the compartment who hailed from Udaipur. We discussed the place, the people and played cards. Then a perfect good night sleep. Reached the city in the morning at 9 am and saw my dear friend waiting at the entrance of the station. Now I had all the opportunity to see a Mewari Wedding, City Palace, Lake Pichola, Jagdish Mandir, Fatehsagar Lake ,Bagore ki Haveli and a lot more. I roamed about the complete city with a young, lively and beautiful girl. She was a stranger to me initially but a lovely companion on my strive to know, visit & shop in an around the city throughout the tour. A scooty, sweet little girl and lovely twist & turns of beautiful city. Though it's quite hot, the sun was at its best... you can enjoy your sunrise and sunsets! I took a train back on 20th May at 6:15 pm. My journey ended with old couples in the coach who were young at heart and had started their journey from Udaipur to see mesmerizing North-East. I had a wonderful time throughout. Bye-bye Udaipur. Hope to see you soon!
