We were all set and super excited to celebrate my birthday amidst nature. We boarded our train and reached New Jalpaiguri the next day around 9.45 am. The cab was waiting for us ,as we both believe in less adventures and more relaxation, we always pre-book our cabs. It saves time and energy. We stopped midway to have refreshments.
It took us 3 hours to reach our destination in Darjeeling.
Where to stay
There are numerous hotels, properties to choose from depending on one's tastes, preferences. We stayed in toki homestay situated near the ropeway in Darjeeling. The property is one of the cosiest properties I have been to. The views from the room is just breathtaking. Their balcony is to die for. One can click many instagrammable pictures and videos here and still cannot get bored of its beauty and charm.
The evening was spent in leisure tasting momos from roadside shops, enjoying pastries in mg Market. We came back and had scrumptious dinner in the homestay.
After a filling and yummy breakfast we headed out for our day trip to mirik. The route was very scenic and the weather added to its charm. The green lush pine forest and the cool breeze left us in awestruck.
Best time to visit
Generally the best time to visit is from April to June but I would suggest you to visit Darjeeling on the onset of monsoon. You will be witnessing the real charm of mountains. Though full fledged monsoon comes with an increased risk factor but light drizzles are just perfect to visit the queen of hills. After reaching mirik we visited the very famous mirik lake and returned back to our lovely home stay.
Places to visit in Darjeeling....
1. Batasia loop- You can see the Darjeeling toy train making its way through beautiful landscapes and blooming garden.
2. Tea garden - There are 3-4 tea gardens I guess..we visited two. One when en route to mirik and the other in the main town of Darjeeling.
3.padmaja Naidu Himalayan zoological park- one can see some of the cutest creatures of God including red panda.
4. Buddhist monastery
This beautiful town left us with wonderful memories and experiences which will be cherished forever ♾️♾️.
It was time to say bye to this cosy town situated in the lap of the Himalayas. We checked out and headed towards the new Jalpaiguri station to board the train..
