The Idea of adding FLYBOARDING to my bucket list happened in 2014 soon after watching Hrithik do the CG stunts with Fly Boarding in the film BANG BANG. During that time, Fly Boarding was not available in India and later it came to Goa. I started checking off my Bucket List from 2016 when I first visited Europe, but this Fly Boarding never came into the picture until the day I along with my cousins arrived in Bali in the month of January this year.

The Must to Do places were ticked off one after the other, but they were not even discussing the Water Sports. Though, we did River Water Rafting in Ubud and that calls for another blog. So, the last day of our trip came and we did an early check out from Ubud and the gang parted ways as some of us extended their trip to Nusa Penida and the others were flying back home. My flight was late in the evening and two of my cousins were accompanying me back to the city.

I convinced them to go check out for the water sports activities and our driver was kind enough to get us to one of the best Water Sports centre in Nusa Dua. And we were given a List of activities available and there it was, FLY BOARDING and I was sold there. So, we combined two other activities, the usual Parasailing and the Flying Fish.

We were ready and taken to the middle of the sea for Parasailing and the Flying Fish. It was fascinating and to look at the boats and the people from the sky at short range was beautiful.

Next came the Flying Fish and I thought it was easy, but I was scared like hell when they told me to hold the handles as strong as I can as the ride will be bumpy and there is no seat belt to save you. Oh man, the experience was surreal as I felt like floating in the air. And once it was done, we were moved to the shore and they prepared us for the Fly Boarding, the curious guy in me jumped in to do the activity first and my cousin was clever enough to stay back and look out how it goes for me.

I was tied up to the Fly Boarding unit that fits in like a shoe apart from the fact that it weighs heavily and drags you into the sea. And then only I realised how it works and how dumb I was to take an attempt. The Fly Boarding is basically powered by the Jet Ski and you need to balance your body to the T. But there I was bloated and tired from all the heavy eating over the past few days and additional leg pain from the trek that gave me a Near Death Experience. Adding to that, the Sky was crying from seeing the worst of Fly Boarding that it might have ever seen.

Out of the 15 mins, I was in the water, I managed to do it perfectly for 4 times and the photographer from their team managed to capture one good shot and many bad shots of my comic stunt. All said and done, it was once in a lifetime experience and it was amazing. I realised on that day, how weak my fitness was and how much I must improve on my health and fitness. My cousin who is an avid swimmer made it look like a walk in the park and that's him in the picture below. Then we went for a Bali massage and ran to catch the flight and the Fly Boarding was a fitting finale for the Great Bali trip of 2019.
