Road trips are special. They lead to a companionship which one can treasure for a lifetime. Although you can presume that being married, companionship should come easy to us. But nothing can prepare one, for the quirks and incidences that a road trip presents. Each one is special. Each trip teaches and touches in its own magical ways.
Driving our own car, with a map and time in hand, leaving the world behind seems not only romantic but also gives a sense of liberation. Although it might seem that the world was on our platter, it completely depended on how much we could consume. Patience, compassion and all virtues come to a test when on the road. And the more we let go the more we received. Things do get magical when we stop craving control over things we do not have the power over. Control over the clouds, control over the bad roads, control over the dying ipod battery, control over the ways of life. The road surprised us with each turn. Booked hotel rooms turned dead while unknown homestays opened their doors with warmth and generosity. Wrong turns led to even better mountain views. And not knowing what to do next kept us in the moment.
Days turned into weeks and we came back to where we started with not just photographs and a tripoto blog, but also with a silent strength to accept life amidst all its adversities and amazing-ness.
