Weekend Escape: Road trip to Ooty

Tripoto
27th Apr 2018

Like most of hill stations Ooty doesn't offer a plethora of activities, but much needed respite from heat and the humdrum of city life. It is a place to just be and not do much. After a long night's journey from Goa to Mysore, we drove from Mysore to Gudalur through Bandipur Tiger Reserve and National forest. Bandipur makes for a scenic drive with sightings of deers, elephants, monkeys among other animals.

We stayed in Tribal Farm in Gudalur, Mr. Pradeep the owner of the place was indeed a super host. Living in a rustic house surrounded by tea gardens was a first for me and worth waking up for the sunrise.

Next day we started for Ooty and Coonoor, honestly the route from Gudalur to Ooty was way more interesting than Ooty. There were vendors selling carrots, mangoes and Palmyra palm fruit all along the way. Also, Ooty offers a variety of homemade chocolates. Unfortunately Ooty is quiet crowded and parking is a huge task in the main town.

In the evening we drove back from Ooty to Gudalur for the night. There are various spots on the way where one can stop and see around.

After spending the night in Gudalur we started for Mysore the very next day, concluding the road trip.
