While preparing my itinerary for Rann of Kutch, I went through many packages that travel agencies offer. Most of them included a day visit to Mandvi from Dhordo, which is a couple of hours away.
However, after doing some research on the internet, I found out about Serena Beach Resort. It came across as a really beautiful property. Since my girlfriend's birthday was around that time, I wanted to book a really nice property and Serena proved to be a very wise decision. This is why I feel that anyone going to Rann of Kutch should at least take out one day and stay at this property.

Great food
Their restaurant has an indoor as well as an outdoor seating area. The outdoor area is great for a romantic setting, but because it was cold around the time we visited, we were advised to dine inside. They serve only vegetarian food but be rest assured that it is simply out of this world! Never in my wildest imagination had I expected to get a taste of such delicious North Indian food here.
Spacious and tastefully done cottages
The cottage was amazing and had all the facilities in it including a refrigerator and tea and coffee maker. The king-size bed was plush and and very comfortable. The interiors were tastefully done. The cottages were surrounded by lush green gardens. At night, with all the lighting, the place looked extraordinarily beautiful.
Private beach
They have a private beach next to the cottages. It was the first thing we checked out after checking in. It is generally open to resort guests till late in the evening. They have beach loungers to relax next to the sea with the cool breeze blowing into our hair.
Huge swimming pool with lovely views
They also have a huge swimming pool and you'll find yourself wondering the need for one if the place is next to a beach. But with crystal clear water, it is difficult to resist getting a dip. We could not resist ourselves and plunged into it even though the weather was slightly chilly. Besides the pool, they also have an activity centre for kids and a games room.
Great destination for couples and family
The resort is not only perfect for a romantic getaway but is also perfect for a family vacation. They have facilities for everyone. They have a huge walking area, a mini-golf course, swimming pool, games centre and a beautiful vibe.
Our short time at the property was over in a day's time as we were booked next day at Rann of Kutch. But we couldn't help but leave with a tinge of sadness wishing to stay there a little longer. Away from the maddening crowd, this property offers great service and is a must-visit for anyone who is travelling in and around Mandvi.
