It started with one of my friends posting a story of this trip to Kausani in Uttarakhand about a month and a half before the trip. It was a group trek. I wanted to give it a try even though I wasn't sure if my parents would let me go. My friend gave me Siddharth's contact, the organiser.

I wasn't sure how to approach my parents, so I thought I'll let this topic slip somewhere in the middle of a conversation. And when I did, all they said was okay and I was so confused about how I should bring up the topic again and convince them.

Since none of my friends till then had agreed to come for the trip that time, it was a complete no-no for me to travel solo. I had to let that go thinking this trip wasn't meant for me.

Fast forward to 2 weeks before the trip, my department in college had to go for an educational trip on the same dates on this trip to Kausani. At the end moment, it was cancelled and with 7 of my friends, I planned on going somewhere. I suggested them this trip and they said yes, and since my friends were going my parents surprisingly said yes too! I was beyond happy!!!

Day 1

Fast forward to the day when we had to leave for Kausani. We were to leave on March 29, 2018, at 4:30 am. We assembled at 4:15 am at Noida Sector 15 Metro station. My dad came to drop me and I was way too excited to even believe it was happening! It was my first trip with my friends without elderly supervision.

We finally left at 4:45 am after waiting for a few people. We were a group of 8 people, among other 30-35 people travelling with us. We had to pick up around 5 more of them from Kathgodam, Uttarakhand.

We spent the whole day travelling. We were running behind schedule since one of the buses broke down and we had to get it repaired before we could go further. By the time we reached Blossom Resort, the place we were staying for the next 3 days, it was almost 8 pm. We checked-in and we were super tired from the journey. All of us had dinner and sat around the bonfire, singing songs, dancing and laughing at the most non-hilarious things. That night I met so many new people and it was a whole different feeling I felt and wanted to feel that much more often.

Day 2

Since all of us had gone to sleep really late, we woke up a little late the next morning. My friends and I played a round of badminton before getting ready for the day. Our second day's plan was to take part in adventure activities like Rock Climbing, Rappelling and Flying Fox or also known as Zip-line. To make it more fun, we put a bet on who will climb the rock the fastest. Apparently, my friend who wasn't sure if he would be able to climb because of his hand injury was the fastest. He took about 1m 10s to climb. It was so much fun.

As I sat there waiting for my turn I saw Udit, a guy from our group writing something in his diary. He had borrowed my pen and when he came to return it I asked him what he was writing, to which he said he likes to maintain journals and whenever he travels he writes about the trip and also collects things from that place. We started talking about other things and I knew it was going to be a start to an amazing friendship.

We got back to the resort from the place where we were doing the adventure activities and whoever wanted to go to the Tea Estate or the Gandhi Ashram, that were the local tourist places, could go. Most of us were too tired to go anywhere else, so all of us stayed back.

Instead, I went out with 4 of my newly made friends to a shop which they call Maggi point. We walked uphill for about 700m where the shop was located, I guess it was 8ish and it was pitch dark. The only view you could see from that shop were lights in the valley below. It was beautiful. I wished I could stay at a place like this forever.

Day 3

Our plan was day 3 was to do the thing which we were here for, the trek. We assembled at 8:30 am after having breakfast to leave from the starting point of the trek. It was going to be a minimum of 3-4 hours of trekking to reach the top, depending on the speed of the group. We had 3 people to lead us to the top and back to the starting point. The first 700m of the trek was extremely steep and by the time we took the first stop, we were exhausted. From that point onwards all of us were divided into 3 groups, the fast, medium, and slow climbers.

All of us were carrying 2 bottles, snacks, chocolates and bread butter jam that was packed and given to us at the resort. Though the weather was pleasant when we started but as noon came we were sweating. The sun blazing on us was making us tired. We took about 3 stops before reaching the end point of our trek. It was all worth the sweat and exhaustion we felt to trek uphill.

There were 2 temples and small huts at the top. We even met a few other trekkers on our way up. We sat on top of the huts, sinking in the views, replenishing our stomachs. An hour later we started our downhill trek but not from the same route we came up from. This route was very slope-y and slippery. We had to take care of where we are keeping our step. A lot of us even slipped and fell, though none of them got injured. By the time we got down to the starting point, it was almost 4 pm. All of us slept on our way back to the resort.

Day 4

Day 4 was the last day of our trip! In the past few days, I had made a lot of friends and we weren't ready to say goodbyes to each other. It was just the start of the day. We were leaving for Delhi today with a pit-stop at Nainital for a few hours. We left from Kausani and reached Nainital at around 3 pm. My friends wanted to extend their trip for another day and decided to stay at a campsite near Nainital. Well, what about me? I decided to head back home instead of staying for another day.

The whole group was now divided as we took cabs to the bus stand from where we parked our bus. While my friends were looking for a campsite, I took a rickshaw from the mall road to the Tibetan Market in Nainital along with my new friends. Apparently, Sonam Fast Foods a small stall in the Tibet Market that sold the tastiest Mutton Momos, but I am a vegetarian and while the others were having mutton momos I was having Veg Momos.

We then clicked a few pictures while walking back to the bus stand, laughing and also, realising in a few hours we'll be reaching Delhi and the trip gets over. We left from Nainital around 5ish and reached Delhi at 3:30 am. We all were talking during the whole ride, trying to make the most of it and bidding goodbyes was a hard task!

This trip has been one of my best trips! Cheers to many more fun trips in the future! ❤
