Another story from archive, dated 1 Jan 2016 - my first travel with only girls in India.

After seeing colours of blue city - Jodhpur we headed towards Thar desert, hopped on a local bus for Jaisalmer with local delicacies- mirchi Wada & jalebi packed.

We chose to stay near Jaisalmer fort as it looks stunning in evening lights . It’s a living fort with interesting stuff to shop, eat & see monuments.

After spending a day in city we headed for most awaited -camp stay in desert . Check in around 4-5pm welcomed in Rajasthani style with dhol, teeka & dance ! Quickly freshened up & left for desert safari & camel ride.

The roller coaster ride in d desert was extraordinary!! Later, bright colourful evening was planned for us . We rejoiced on folk songs & Kalbelia dance, didn’t miss the chance to shake our legs with those stunning dancers ;) .

Midnight... .

Still awake , chatting with other ppl around bonfire at camp site . I had no clue this is coming up.

I am a bit more crazy esp while travelling???? .

I dared to ask camp owners - can we goto desert safari right now ? ( freezing cold night). Surprisingly, he replied without much ado ... YES!! Let’s go...!!! .

Quickly we girls & a bunch of other guys hopped onto the jeep( before they change their mind???? ) .

And the magic begun ! .

Jeep was twisting & turning on plateaus in zero visibility , we could only scream in excitement & fear tightly holding the handles of jeep to ensure we don’t fall down. It was an epic ride in absolute darkness!! ( darr to sabko lagta hai par darr mei he to mazza hai ;) )

After few mins of this crazy ride, jeep halted amidst desert .There was nobody except us , sand and a pretty moon lit in the sky . Gorgeous!

To make it complete ,they lit a bonfire & made tea there. Never imagined of watching desert in moonlight . It was gripping... .

This moment reminds me of an old song - “yeh lamhe yeh pal hum barso yaad karnege..” .

Nothing can be more beautiful than being painted in local colours of the place. ????
