Uyuni Salt Flats is the world's largest salt flat. It is about 10,582sq km wide and 3,656 m above sea level.

It was formed as a result of the transformation between prehistoric lakes. With rising temperatures and climate changes, the water evaporated and salt and minerals were left behind. It is covered by salt crust and lithium. When it rains, then the thin layer of dead calm water transforms the flat into the largest mirror of the world, about 129km.
