EXPLORE THE WONDERFUL RAJASTHAN

Itinerary - 10 Days / Ground Cost : 27000 Rupee

After coming to India for almost 6 years, there is something I always wanted to do which is to a touring in India. My first choice would be touring in Ladakh but since I'm a beginner in motorcycle riding, I will try to ride though Rajasthan. It is more flat in terms on geographical and more place to stop than Ladakh. As a beginner, this is the best route you can take to start your touring journey in India. The people here are amazing and there are so many attractions to go in Rajasthan.

So many people asked me whether I ride my bike from Malaysia for this journey, well i'm not, I rent my bike here in Jaipur.

So let me tell you what you need to do for this 10 days journey.

From Malaysia

AirAsia OD207 18:55 – 22:00 (5 Hours)

Coming from Malaysia, I choose to last flight of the day because I want to have more time to prepare just in case I need to find additional things to bring for this journey.

The flight takes 5 hours journey and we have plenty of time to rest on the flight.

We arrived in Jaipur at 9PM and it will take another 40 minutes for immigration clearance and luggage. Since we have enough time to explore Jaipur for a few hours. We go straight to the hotel for check-in.

Here in India, we use Ola Cabs App to hire an auto rickshaw or taxi to go to the airport or anywhere in Jaipur. After a 5 hours of flight, we were all getting hungry and we went to this Halal Muslim restaurant in Jaipur called MM Khan Restaurant.

We headed back to the hotel and call it a night.

Day 2

Bike Rental

After we had our rest, it is time for us to test and see our bikes and necessary preparation for touring. But before we get lost in the city of Jaipur, we go to Vodaphone Mobile Center near our hotel for Tourist Simcard for 550 Rupee. You can ask the hotel Manager, where is the location. Not every Mobile Center can do tourist sim card, only a few can. It took a while to get our sim card, around 2 hours for six people.

Sim card ready and we use the Ola App to go out Bike Rental shop.

A total of 6 bikes we rent, which is 5 RE Classic 500cc and 1 RE Himalayan 410cc. We asked the owner to give us bungee cord and mobile phone holder for every bike, and also we install pannier holder for each motorcycle to put our luggage on the side of the bike. After almost 3-4 hours at the bike shop, we headed to nearest Royal Enfield Showroom to equip ourself with complete riding gears. If you have the opportunity to go to India, whether you like it or not, you must visit the Royal Enfield showroom. If you are not buying anything, be amazed by the history of these bikes and the accessories that they have. For me, It feels like a kid in a candy store.

Go to this store Royal Enfield Showroom near Metro station, No G 5/G6/ G7, Gitanjali Towers Ajmer Road, Sodala, near Civil Lines, Jaipur. Ask for staff named AKRAM, and he will help you in the best possible way.

Shopping is done, bikes are all ready, we forgot to eat lunch and us already in dinner mode. We try another famous Halal shop in Jaipur, that is Muhammadi Palace located near our bike rental shop. It is easy for us because it is already on our way back to the hotel.

We headed back to the hotel and take a rest because tomorrow will be the start of our journey.

Day 3

Jaipur – Pushkar (149KM / 2 Hours 43 Minutes)

This is it, the first day of our touring experience. Everyone woke up at 6:30 AM and go to each bike to put our luggage on the bike. This is the first time for some of us, and it took one hour to get prepared. After everyone has done with their bike, we have a quick briefing, and we go.

The first ride less traffic because we go out early in the morning and while everyone is trying to get to perfect adjustment, we stopped by at McDonald by the side of the highway for breakfast.

The journey to Pushkar is not that far, and we stopped so many times. On the side note, take a rest after 60km or 80km ride because you don't want to delay the arrival to destination. Once you stopped, the time needs to prepare your gear might take a lot of time.

We arrived in Pushkar by 12:30 PM and checked in to our by the lake hotel that is Hotel Bharatpur Palace. This hotel has the best view of Pushkar Lake. We parked our bikes and headed to the town for any one of us to do shopping. Pushkar is the place to buy a souvenir; it is quite cheap and affordable. Remember to always bargaining with the sellers.

Day 4

Pushkar – Jodhpur (188KM / 4 Hours)

After the first day ride, we decided to ride out early in the morning because it might take a lot more time to arrive. Even though it might take 4 hours on paper, we have to add up another 2 hours for our rest.

We had our breakfast at the hotel and packed our luggage to our motorcycle.

We arrived in Jodhpur at 4:30 PM and straight to check in the Hostel( Zostel Jodhpur). With one hour left to see any attractions, we went straight to Mehrangarh Fort for the sunset view.

Later that evening, we went to Raja Chicken Corner for our dinner.

Day 5

Jodhpur – Jaisalmer (281KM/ 4 Hours 37 Minutes)

Since we have time that morning, we went to see the stepwell next to our hostel.

We didn't have our breakfast at the hostel, but instead, we went to this omelette shop, and it was terrific. It is near the entrance gate and the clocktower.

The traffic in Jodhpur was a bit challenging to get out of the town area. Many times we were separated and managed to find each other again.

Starting from here, the view of Jaisalmer was terrific. You can see the landscape changes along the way. Remind me of a specific part of the states in Malaysia.

As we arrived in Jaisalmer, we were hoping to see the sunset, but we were too late, and we stopped just enough time to see the end of the evening. We got too excited and quickly ride to our campsite in the Thar Desert.

This place is so remote, and you will get lost if you are not careful. You can search for Nikas House on Airbnb. This place is like no other place I've experienced in India. Ratan is the owner of the site, and he is the one who is taking of us during our stay. He cooked our dinner and made chai masala tea for all of us. What makes it unique is our house is a small hut—no electricity, pitch black and with the sound of nature.

Day 6

Our second day in Jaisalmer, we went back to the city to pick up some supplies. Usually, we packed some fried chicken and chips.

If you have time, visit the fort in Jaisalmer and buy some souvenirs. They have the cheapest leather product here. You can custom if you need it.

Again, we were chasing the sunset moment to the Thar Desert. As we arrived in the second campsite, we change our transportation to use camel for the desert experience.

If you ever if Jaisalmer, sleep in the desert is a must things to do here.

Day 7

Jaisalmer – Jodhpur (282KM / 4 Hours 50 Minutes)

From the Thar Desert to the city, it took about one hour to reach. We start our ride to Jodhpur early it's going to be a long day for us. Again, we stopped by at every 80km.

We checked in quite late in Jodhpur, just enough time to rest and start fresh next day.

Day 8

Jodhpur – Jaipur (149KM / 2 Hours 43 Minutes)

By this time, we already reached our goal to reach Jaisalmer, everyone was tired, and we need a morale boost to continue our journey back to Jaipur. What we did was we booked a breakfast experience at the RAAS Hotel, Jodhpur 5 stars hotel. I must say the breakfast here was just amazing. The best I ever had and the price is quite reasonable for this kind of service. The architecture and the view are just unbelievable here.

Breakfast at the 5 Star hotel in Jodhpur ( RAAS Hotel for 1700 Rupee)

After we had our breakfast, we continue our journey to Jaipur. Anyone want to do this touring, please don't at night using this highway, it was so dangerous for us because of all the lorries and heavy trucks.

We arrived a bit a late again in Jaipur but enough time to have our dinner at out favourite in Jaipur that is MM Khan.

Check in Hotel ( Hotel Amer View Jaipur )

Day 9

In Jaipur, we have one full day to explore what we miss when we first arrived here. Some of us do last minute shopping, and I went to Royal Enfield Showroom again.

We returned our bikes to the rental shop, and from here, we use our Ola Cab app. We were supposed to Agra by train, but we missed it because the train we thought to ride is on another platform and the digital board said differently. Luckily for us, it is cheaper to use Ola Cab App to go to Agra. We arrived in Agra around 1 AM the next day.

Check in Hotel ( Headquartes Agra)

Jaipur - Agra (238KM / 4 Hours 15 Minutes)

Day 10

Morning Visit to Taj Mahal

We have only 4-5 hours to sleep before we headed out early in the morning to visit the Taj Mahal, the place where everyone wants to see if they are in India. No one should skip seeing this place. This is it; we ended our journey in India by viewing of the seven wonders of the world. What a journey it has been and worth to be remembered.

We went back to Jaipur for an evening flight back to Kuala Lumpur.
