For those of you familiar with the works of historian and author Daniel Francis this title may sound familiar.
I've kept the same title because nothing else seemed so apt to describe the beautiful and serene temple town Gokarna. Lying in the south-western region of Karnataka this place is best for adventure lovers and for people looking after a peaceful beach vacation.

Here in this article I thought about sharing the budget aspect of the trip which I think will help fellow travellers plan much better and give them an idea about how much to save for a Gokarna trip.
1. Transportation
To Gokarna-
The mode of commutation depends on your interest and you can choose between bike, car bus or train whichever is convenient and suits your interest. We took the KSRTC service from Bengaluru (Majestic) to Gokarna (AIRAVAT).
Ticket Charges as of 24th November 2019 mentioned below:
AIRAVAT- ₹738
Non Ac Sleeper- ₹719
Karnataka Sarige- ₹518
At Gokarna-
It's always advisable to depend on bike rentals rather than Auto at Gokarna, you can rent out a scooty at ₹350 for a day which again is negotiable and you can get it for ₹300 to ₹200 too.
Total expenditure -
738 x 2tickets = ₹1476 (one way for two people)/ ₹2952 ( to and fro for two people)
350 x 2days = ₹700 (scooty)
Total = ₹3652
2 Accomodation
We had made our booking at Kudle beach view resort and spa. I will be sharing some of the pics of this Exquisite property. The view of kudle beach from this resort is Amazing. The rooms are well maintained and the room service is excellent.
Apart from the view many other facilities are also provided along with recreational activities like yoga, swimming and badminton.
Other than this there are many other resorts and stays in and around Gokarna. Some of the notable ones being Sanskruti resort, Namaste cafe, Gokarna international and so on. You can book these via online platforms.
The accomodation expenditure of our trip for 2 days and 2 nights is as below
Oyo Hotel Royal Valley: 1.6k
Kudle beach view resort and spa: 5.5k
Total accomodation expense :₹ 7.1k
As a word of caution to my fellow travellers, if you are booking stays other than resorts on any app please do an extensive search on Google and make sure to go through reviews before booking. Many a times the photos on the app is so different from what it's in reality.
3. Foooood :)
Well for me, I can adjust with almost anything but not food, thankfully Gokarna has a lot of options when it comes to food.
Some of the notable places are Namaste cafe, ( excellent view of the Om beach from the cafe)
White elephant restaurant, Mantra cafe and so on.
We did most of our breakfast lunch and dinner in Namaste cafe trying out different dishes, my personal favourite being the roasted chicken steak (^^).
Food expenses: ₹3k
Total expense for the entire Gokarna trip amounts to about ₹13752. This can be brought down to below 10k if you search for much economical stays, the accomodation factor adds up to a large portion in the expense.
The Food price at Gokarna varies and you can see a price range of ₹₹-₹₹₹₹(sea food being a bit costly than the rest).
