About:
Kasauli is a small hill town in the north Indian state of Himachal Pradesh surrounded by colonial-era houses, orchards, magnificent Victorian mansions and Christ Church. It is one of the few places that built up by British kingdom during the peak time in India. Kasauli offers the allure of a calm and composed tourist appeal. The Gilbert Nature Trail winds through lush green areas with countryside views & rich in birdlife.
I started my journey in morning at 8:00 AM from my hometown Karnal. Kasauli is almost 170 Km from Karnal on Delhi-Shimla Highway. The weather was cloudy, and it was drizzling somewhere. I continued my journey towards destination and the weather became picture perfect after crossing the Himalayan Expressway Toll Plaza. I started feeling cold and couldn’t resist myself to have a little appetite. So, I had a cup of tea that was served with hot samosas’. After such a great appetite I moved. When you enroute to Kasauli from Shimla highway will take your breath away. The route is so beautiful, dotted with dense timbered woods and curves. You will be accompanied by the lush green forest and heart melting voices of the birds.
Finally, I reached at my resort Welcome Heritage Glenview Resort (ITC Hotels). It was really a warm welcome at the resort with some mocktails. Without leaving me for waiting they took me to my room. Huge means Huge, the room was filled with all the luxury amenities like glass covered Jacuzzi in balcony with sofas, dining area, drawing room, 2 washrooms etc. I took some rest for another 1 hour and moved for Lunch. After lunch, I decided to explore the nearby places in Kasauli. You can use bicycle to explore but I decided to drive to the main city and parked there. Most of the places in Kasauli are nearby and you can walkthrough easily.
Christ Church:
Must visit this famous Christ Church, is a historical landmark in towns & oldest church of Himachal Pradesh established in 1853. It is a beautiful example of gothic architecture and will leave you speechless that you wouldn’t feel like leaving this place.
Mall Road:
Ideal for shopaholics, the mall road is offering colorful fabrics & handicrafts. This is best place to spoil yourself in town and can spend hours and capture the unforgettable moments.
Monkey (Manki) Point:
One of sightseeing places, is one of the attractions during the visit. The point being the highest point of region with a Hanuman Temple at the top, which is believed to be the resting point of Lord Hanuman when he was carrying Sanjivani Booti. The Air Force Station is there where you can witness the arms & ammunition.
Sunset Point:
Wow, an ideal place for photographers, nature lovers, admirers, enthusiasts and adventurers. It becomes unique due to the swing and garden chairs installed here, where you can sit and enjoy the breathtaking view of the sunset. This place is surrounded with absolute calmness and beauty with lush green areas.
Lawrence School:
Being in India's top 10 schools, this school preserved itself naturally. Many Industrialists, Actors, Renowned personalities of India completed their elementary & secondary education from here. Lawrence School is strictly follow its rules to maintain its standard. You can visit this school on prior appointment from management.
Gurkha Fort:
This is an historical example of Gurkha Wars installed with nearing 200 years old cannons on its ancient walls. The place is surrounded with pines and eucalyptus trees. You can pamper yourself with history and nature thinking about the stories related to this place.
You can visit this place during any time of the year. Make sure to carry good cameras to capture moments & water bottles to keep hydrated.
After visiting such an amazing & beautiful place I never felt tired. Being at such a wonderful place I was thinking there are a lot such place in India we never been. After such a lovely visit to these places this was the time to go back. The dinner was served with fresh drinks at rooftop garden and I enjoyed it with majestic views. It was time to get some rest, I went to sleep.
Morning, I never expected that calmness, it took me to another level. Really enjoyed view from my balcony with Jacuzzi. One of the lifetimes experience I felt like a king. You can pamper yourself in swimming pool on the edge of the resort made of glass with mesmerizing views. After getting ready, I enjoyed my breakfast with different dishes. Now, its time to go back after a wonderful weekend.
