Kanthalloor tourism fest in Idukki district of Kerala has commenced on Tuesday(18th April 2023) bestowing as many as 52 tourist destinations, megalithic sites, dolmens (‘Muniyara’) and waterfalls for the travellers visiting this idyllic village. In preparation for this grand fest, the authorities have set up ample cottages, wood houses, mud houses, tree houses and homestays at moderate prices.

Kanthalloor is famous for it's apple orchards, popularly known as Kerala's Apple Valley. It is also famous for cultivating a variety of fruits and vegetables such as orange, sweet lemon (mausambi), strawberry, blue passion fruit, tree tomato, guava and lemon. The fest offers an opportunity to visitors to purchase fresh vegetables, apples, strawberries, finger millet (ragi), spices, honey and products with GI tags, including Marayoor jaggery, and Kanthalloor-Vattavada garlic.

Visiting the plantation of these fruits and vegetables, is another refreshing activity that travellers can indulge in. Aparts from this, there are numerous adventurous activities to relish at the fest, like a trip through sandalwood forest, off road safari, night safari, morning safari, camp fire, tribal dance, mega show of film actors, flower show and carnival.

Kanthalloor is known for its cool, balmy weather all through the year. Nestled in the Western Ghats along the Kerala-Tamil Nadu border, the village is fast developing into a tourist hotspot, and the fest is expected to give impetus to tourism in this area.
