Laos is a land ruled by the Mekong, which boasts of natural wonders such as unchartered rivers, unclimbed mountains, and untouched forests inhabited by a multitude of creatures. The country is also home to dozens of indigenous cultures.

It is the only landlocked country in Southeast Asia

From the east, Laos is bordered by Vietnam, while the Southeast borders are donned by Cambodia. The country’s Northwest boundaries are adjoined - with Myanmar and China, and the West and the Southwest borders are draped by Thailand. However, as if to make up for the lack of coastline, Laos has enriched itself with lakes, rivers, and waterfalls.

It is known as the “Land of Million Elephants”

In the olden days, the capital of Luang Prabang was surrounded by grazing pastures where many a herd of wild elephants roamed freely. The royal family tamed these elephants as a means of transportation, and also they occupied the frontlines of the wars. Sadly, the present times witness the rapid decline in the elephant population due to the loss of their natural habitats, the trade of ivory, and the increased demand for elephants for the logging industry.
