After the lockdown, it was my first trip outside of Mumbai.
For a trip like this, it is necessary to book a hotel to stay, so that we booked our stay in Alibag one weeks before our trip. The name of the hotel is Sagar Hotel the room was clean with the required facilities.
It was my first time going by M2M ferries from Mumbai (Princess Dock), must try visiting Alibag by M2M ferries. The cost per person for one way journey is Rs. 300 takes 45min to reach Mandwa. Also, you can carry a personal vehicle from M2M ferries. (For more info visit their official website).
From Mandwa, you will get rickshaws, tam-tams, and buses that will drop you in Alibag city. Once you reach Alibag, you will get many vehicles on a rental basis that cost around Rs.500-700 for a day on holidays.
Exploring Alibag on a bike, it's something you must do once in a lifetime.
Hotel check-in was at noon after freshening planned to visit Murud Janjira Fort that is 53KM from Alibag. It takes approximately two hours to reach the location.
On the way to Murud Janjira Fort, we visited Revdanda Fort. This fort is an old historical structure surrounded by coconut trees and near the beach.
After that, we went to Kashid beach, spent some time on the beach, and left for our next destination Murud Janjira Fort.
Due to Covid-19, the fort was closed. On the way back, visited Murud beach spent some time there, had some snacks, and waited for sunset.
After that, we came back to the hotel in Alibag and had dinner in the nearby Waves restaurant (only veg food is available, tomato soup is very famous here).
Day 1 ended here.
Hotel check-out time was at 11 AM. We checked out from the hotel and planned to visit the Korlai Fort.
Korlai Fort is 23 KM away from Alibag, takes approximately 1 hour to reach there.
The fort is a hidden gem in Alibag. On the one side of the road there is a beach and on the other side the fort wall. We spent some time there and left for next location.
On the way to Mandwa visited Kihim beach, spend some time, and left for Mandwa jetty.
Mandwa Jetty from Kihim beach is around 10 Km.
Reached Mandwa and caught a 3 PM ferry to Mumbai.
The total cost of the trip per person:
Mandwa to Alibag: Rs 50-80 /person
Hotel: Rs.1600 / room
Ferries: (two-way journey): Rs.600/ person
Food: 500+/ person for a day
Fuel for the bike: Rs. 400
So visit with your partner it costs around 4200 for two days for two people considering all the miscellaneous costs.
If you are going individual, it will cost under Rs. 3000
Tip:
Book a hotel room before 2-3 weeks for a reasonable price.
If planned to visit Murud Janjira Fort, must leave in the morning from Alibag to reach the place on time.
If visiting Alibag, you must try cakes in Mayur Bakery.
If your visiting beaches or any other tourist places, please do not throw your trash anywhere. Please preserve these places.
