Home Travel Story How To Spend Your Day in Mumbai And Around

Tripoto

Whenever someone talks to me about Mumbai, I immediately go into flash back mode. I still remember how I used to shuffle between Worli and Andheri (MIDC) where my office used to be and then back to Nariman Point where my corporate office was situated. Even after so many years every memory of Mumbai is still fresh in my mind.

Last week, one of my friends who was visiting Mumbai asked for my recommendations on things to do in Mumbai, where to eat and places to stay at Lonavla.

Mumbai has always dazzled everyone with its charm. The warmth and high spirits of the city is quiet enticing.

Here is what to do in Mumbai if you are there for a day or two!

Start your day with breakfast at JW Café at JW Marriott, Juhu – simply the best breakfast option in the city. After that move towards south Mumbai and check out some of the famous galleries in town – NGMA, Jahangir Art Gallery and then go to Souk at Taj Hotel for lunch. It offers the best Mediterranean cuisine in the county. If you are around on a Sunday, do not miss the Sunday brunch with champagne. The authentic eastern Mediterranean dishes from sesh touk to the shawarma to the grills – you will simply fall in love. Besides this, the panoramic view of Gateway of India and Arabian Sea simply wows you. After a scrumptious meal, you should move towards the fort area and go to the Yazdani bakery for brun/bun maska and Irani chai. This 100 year old Irani bakery also serves the best mawa cake in town.

In the evening you will have plenty of options to choose from. Bombay night life is majestic, from the classic Indigo to the Leopold to the Ellipsis for finest cocktails.

I would suggest you to go to The Table or The Bombay Canteen for some lip-smacking food at dinner.

Well, I forgot to tell you that if you are in Bombay you shouldn’t miss the Irani restaurants. Do visit Britannia Café for berry pulao, ideal Corner for mutton cutlet and Jimmy’s Corner for Custard.

For the midnight pangs, Baghdadi and Bade Mian are good options.

Next day, head towards the valley near Mumbai. Lonavala is perhaps one of the best place for weekends Lonavala Hotels are designed to give comfort and the place itself is quite charming.

I am sure the options shared are enough for you to quickly explore and compel you to fall in love and come again!
