I was in class 10, however that didn't stop us from going on a family vacation. We weren't really on a vacation, it was a 2 day trip to visit my mom's doctor in Kerala. We were to meet the doctor on the first day and catch a flight back the next day.

My dad says he'd booked the doctor's appointment a week prior, but somehow (I'd say it's destiny) the doctor ended up being out of town the day we reached. We didn't know what to do, we couldn't go to our uncle's place because it's a 5 hour drive from the doctor's place. We wouldn't make it make it back on time, even if we did we'd be severely sleep deprived. .

As we didn't have any other plans, we decided to go to a nearby dam. It was almost an hour drive. On the way, we spotted a random stream and decided to get down. We started talking through the stream only to reach a waterfall. My brother and I were ecstatic, we haven't seen my many waterfalls or streams growing up in Mumbai. We ran around for some time. Splashed each other. Our clothed were wet upto the knee. After almost falling down a dozen times, we decided to sit along the stream and get a natural pedicure (unfortunately there weren't any fish where we sat). Sometime later, my brother screamed and pulled his legs out. A leaf had touched his foot but he thought it was a snake. He no longer wanted to get a pedicure. We were getting any, but it's fun to put in your feet in flowing water and just sit there. We left shortly after that. .

We reached the dam, had a traditional Keralite meal, walked around for sometime and then we had to leave. It was time for the dam to be closed. The dam complex wasn't as big or cool as we expected it to be. We were glad we stopped at the waterfall. The next morning we consulted the doctor, and almost missed our flight. .

It's been 4 years since that trip and I haven't been to a stream yet. I guess streams every 500 metres are a specific feature in God's own country only.
