Day 1

We had a refreshing trek to Bramhagiri. This is a high mountain from where the Godavari river is emerged. Takes about 1 hr to climb up to the top if you go non stop. There are well made steps thru out, but this also makes the climb pretty tiring. The last part of the climb is thru steps carved into a verticle cliff. This is where the monkeys will block your way. Hence, it is recommended to carry a stick with you ( available in many small shacks on the way). Make sure you do not carry any loose items like water bottles or mobiles in this part of the monkey zone. You risk losing them as monkeys snatch them literally. On the top y oiu have the Mahadev mandir and a place where Shankar bhagwan sat on his knees and banged his long hair (jata) on the rock.
Best time to go there is other than monsoon season during which it can be pretty lonely and risky on the rocky parts.
Trimbakeshwar is just 30 kms off Nashik and a damn scenic location. You can also visit the main Mahadev mandir in Trimbakeshwar town. But be ready to stand in the line for 1 to 3 hrs for the darshan. Avoid Sun & Mon if you want a faster darshan.
