I am one of those people who loves celebrating their birthdays and make sure to at least plan a whole week of celebration with friends & family. This year my family & I decided to take a trip to Udaipur, my mom loves Rajasthan and Udaipur was #1 on her bucket list so what better place could we have chosen considering my birthday is during the mid of July and all the cities in India face crazy rains unlike Rajasthan.

Day 1

The day we landed in Udaipur Uber & Ola were on strike so we had book a cab from the airport which costed us much more than what Uber or Ola would have, never the less the driver was a gem of a person. My father believes that the vibe of a city / place is made up of it's people and we were very happy with our first interaction with a local from there so much so that we booked him for our whole trip to take us around the city. Our hotel was called Ras Leela it is a boutique hotel behind the 5 star hotel Leela. It is a super cute hotel with around 10-12 cottages made of Mud and a view of the scenic lake and Jagmandir. The plan for the day was pretty light with only attending the puppet show at Bhagore Ki Haveli . It had the perfect touch of culture from Rajasthan and was delight to watch. After the show we went for dinner at Harigarh Restaurant where we enjoyed a candle lit meal with a view of the lake. Day 1 for us was just perfect.

Day 2

The day started on a perfect note with some chai by the lake and a view of Jagmandir. Day 2 was all about sightseeing, we visited the very famous City Palace, we took a tour guide once we reached there and I think that was the best decision we made as the palace was so huge we wouldn't have known, seen or covered half of it. Although the cost of the tour and the guide might be too much but it is one palace that I would love to visit again. We stopped for lunch at this restaurant called Khamma Ghani and had the best Laal Maas which is a local non vegetarian dish that one should not miss if visiting Udaipur. In the evening we visited a quint cafe called Jheel Ginger at the Lake Pichola , though the coffee and hot chocolate were very average the view and the vibe of the place made up for it.

Day 3

Day 3 started with a boat ride post breakfast near City Palace followed by a cable car ride to the Karni Mata Temple. These 2 are a must visit in Udaipur to see the scenic views that the city has to offer, helps you fall more in love the place and it's beauty & also stopped to catch the sunset at the Monsoon Palace as we visited it during the Monsoon we saw the palace in it's full glory. After a worthwhile sunset, we visited the very famous HathiPole Market to buy some gifts for friends and family. The market has a bunch of amazing dress material shops , so you can buy some lovely bhandani dress materials post that we headed for dinner back to our hotel.

Day 4

Day 4 being the last day of our trip we wanted to keep it very light we decided to spend the morning at our hotel, post which we headed for lunch to Rainbow Restaurant the service at this restaurant was a bit slow but we were in no hurry as it was the last day of the trip and we more or less didn't have much on our list. A place that I was influenced by I Instagram to visit was the Badi lake & the Bahubali Hills, I had seen so many pictures of this place that I had to visit it so post lunch we headed to Badi Lake, to my surprise even the locals don't know about the Bahubali Hills as our driver also had to stop and ask everyone. Eventually when we found the route to the hills, it started raining heavily so we decided to drop the plan of going to the top. None the less, I have a reason to visit Udaipur again. By the time, we got to the city the rains had stopped so we decided to go and grab some Kulhad coffee to end our trip on the right note with views of the Fateh Sagar Lake.

To conclude this, Udaipur has a piece of my heart & I can't wait to visit it again.
