It was time again to put my shoes and backpack on, collecting visions/memories and fresh air to breathe. It was my first trip to Kodaikanal with my friend. This was in month of April 2021 which could also help me escape withering summer for few days.
So, it was 3 days trip starting from Thursday night. We boarded a bus on Thursday night from Bengaluru directly to Kodaikanal.
Kodaikanal is about 9 to 10 hours and approx of 465kms from Bangalore. So let me give a clear differentiation between Kodaikanal and Vattakanal
Kodaikanal
Located in the hills of the Dindigul district of Tamil Nadu, among the Western Ghats of India(Palani hills).
Vattakanal
A small village, few kms away from Kodaikanal on the southern tip of the upper Palani Hills.
So our bus was booked to Kodaikanal and from where we took a taxi to our accommodation - The Kodai Heaven. To book your stay please get in touch through mail id - thekodaiheaven@gmail.com, because the contact number shared in google is not reachable most of the times.
After a full night journey and through the winding roads of the Western Ghats, we finally reached Vattakanal around 9am. Kodaikanal is quite crowded, so we decided to stay in Vattakanal.
It was greenery welcome for us, the stay is filled with plants and climbers which is situated on the top of a small hill.
We had booked one villa named, Langit Villa with higher altitude valley view from the window. The cost was @3000 for 2 person for 1 night and we booked for 2 nights and no meals included. The view from the cottage was surprisingly beautiful.
We quickly got freshen up took a bite of bread toast with omelette, with a greenery view again and cactus by the side.
We also booked the same taxi we hired from Kodaikanal for our day's tour. We had 3 days to explore so we decided to take one day to take a tour through taxi all over the possible places we can.
So we first visited pine tree forest.
We then took a walk through the view point, the market, coacher's walk and church.
We also did cycling around the lake, pedal boating in the lake and spent an soothing evening.
We came back to our stay, had dinner along with our gossips.
We woke up early to watch the sunrise right from the doorstep of our cottage, however we could not see the sun clearly as it was fully covered with mist.
The second day we had a plan to explore dolphin nose and surroundings. Dolphin nose is nearby to our stay where we could trek and reach the destination.
The trails are not well maintained and is with ups and downs, but the view is worth the each step you take.
We did take a few snack break, relax and photo shooting breaks along with the default trek partner, a doggo.
Then we finally reached the Dolphin's Nose spot.
It is a slim flat layered rock jutting out of the mountain, overlooking a deep cliff, with its shape to that of Dolphin's nose.
Standing and sitting on the edge of the Dolphin's Nose made me realize why I travel. To live the adventures.
Just a few steps away, another route from the Dolphin's Nose is the Echo Point which also gives treat to your eyes an try echo play with the mountains.
After a back-breaking uphill trek of close to 2km, we were starving. We decided to have our lunch. We hogged at a small restaurant and then we had our yummy lunch which made our tummy happy happy.
We then went for a small walk and then we decided to spend our evening at the famous Altaf's Cafe, situated right at the point from where the hike to Dolphin's Nose starts. They serve both Italian and Middle Eastern dishes.
We then got back to our stay and had a few shots of vodka, lot of talks, music and dance fun, delicious dinner and few photoshoots. A full on girl's party night. Then we went to sleep.
The next day evening was our bus booked back to Bangalore. Our stay itself was a lot to explore, we woke up, went out for breakfast, did plant shopping from "Bob and Tanya".
Came back to our room, we did the packing and then guess what?
The Monsoon arrived. We fortunately got the chance to experience the rain and views after the rain was mesmerizing.
See some of our photoshoots.
The views were totally eye soothing after the rain, trust me! A cup of plant!
We then got our bags and started to reach the bus stand.
Bidding adieu, we saved it for later!
We live in a beautiful world and i am always looking forward to the next ones to explore.
Go live the adventures.
