Meghalaya: The cloud abode!(NH7+towning around) #northeastphotos

Day 1 and 2 of our trip was for the NH7 weekender music fest. We stayed in Shillong at Colin's guest house and took the shuttle to and fro Jaintia Hills which was the venue for the fest. It was an incredible experience as Shillong proved to live up to its Rock Capital of India vibes.

Day 3

We hired a car driven by one of the locals for the next leg of our trip after the fest. He was a wonderful young guide and had some great rock and Hindi music on his playlist. He drove us expertly through the narrow-winding fog-covered roads. Our first stop was the Shillong viewpoint that was breathtaking.

Also on Day 3: Cathedral of Mary Church, Police Bazaar, Fusion Bar (it was another adventure finding this place! Hope you take it if you find yourself in Shillong).

Day 4

Day 4: Elephant falls, Cherrapunji View point, Mawsmai Caves (DO NOT MISS), 7 sisters view point

At the view point, you can zipline across these cloud-laden hills for some adrenaline rush.

We didn't have a place of stay booked and ended up at this sweet place tucked along one of the winding roads. We nearly froze, but it was worth the morning and night view.

Day 5

Day 5 saw us straight into the land of fairy tales. From the village of Mawlynnong to Dawki river, it was one hidden gem after another. This day was the highlight for me. Exhaustion and sweet wonder was what I was left with at bedtime.

Take a boat ride across Dawki river to the Indo-Bangladesh border.

Stroll and eat in Mawlynnong village (cleanest village in Asia in 2003).

On Day 6, we stopped at Don Bosco Museum in Shillong before heading to Guwahati for our flight back to Bangalore. A stop worth the while to get an overview of the North East culture and history.

Also, go all out on trying local food and beer. Talk to the locals, smile, sing, eat piping hot maggi, sip on coffee, and don't litter!
