Exotic as exotic gets, Mykonos is my pick of the Hellenic islands. I had been to place in the month of July for my honeymoon, and boy, was it enchanting or what!

It easily sits on the top of my list, and I can't just help but romanticize it all out of proportion. So, for a change, I will be somewhat objective with my review.

About my stay :

I stayed at the HERMES, and right from the moment I got there, they took care of the two of us. A scintillating view, awesome service, and surroundings that will make you think twice about your travel plans - you just might want to cancel everything else and stay on at the Hermes for a while longer.

Spick and span, it's splendid white interiors give you an instant thrill - its almost a visual confirmation of your arrival in the exotic islands of Greece. The welcome is warm; and in our case, following the pickup from the port to the hotel, there was a refreshing welcome drink that we sipped on, as we soaked in the sights and scenes from the relaxing balcony.

It was a magnificent view that we walked into, as we settled in our rooms. It was obvious that Hermes prides itself in the cottons it provides, and its pride is certainly well placed. The bathrobes in particular, will haunt you in all further hotel stays. The pool setting is gorgeous, and you might spend a good while clicking photos around it.

The Breakfast Buffet was decent, and the spread sufficient. The Hermes Chefs should definitely look at creating a Hermes Signature dish that could add on to the Breakfast Buffet - it probably is the only aspect of Hermes that does not leave that lasting impression.

The only little niggles could be the absence of good restaurants at walking distance, and that it can get really dark around the place - not a great deal of street lighting. Not a massive botheration, in an experience that could be termed as nothing less than wonderful.

The service deserves special mention, as the folks at the reception go out of their way to ensure that you feel at home. My recommendation to everyone looking to travel to Greece would be to not miss the Mykonos-Hermes combination for anything.

The Place and the Points :

As with most exotic islands, Mykonos has its share of jaw dropping beaches - the idea is obviously to pick the one that suits your intent. Are you looking for adventure, relaxation, or is it a party that you are looking forward to. When we were looking to relax, we found the ELIA; when we were heading to a party, we headed for the Paradise Beach. Moving around Mykonos on a bike was an absolute thrill.

The Windmills and the Little Venice are the jewels in the crown of Mykonos, and are those go-to unmissable locations in Mykonos. These are quite close to each other, and amongst the most sensational photo points on the planet. Once back from the place, I was amazed at the number of times I had seen these views across  so many films.

To add to these, we had been there in July, which is the proverbial peak time for the island - the climate was enchanting. The sun beating down, and gusts of winds blowing across; our timing couldn't have been better.
