Visiting Auli, the Switzerland of India the place known for its winter adventure sports, in summers would not sound like a very smart choice, but we gave it a go. We started our journey to Joshimath from Dehradun, the 12 hours bus ride though exhausting was never boring. We decided to stay in Joshimath which is 16 km from Auli, a decision we took considering our budgets (Auli is a bit expensive). We started our trek to Gorson Bugyal and Chattar Kund early next morning from Auli with a guide. A guide is necessary because of the forest in between. The vast expanse of the grassland from the Gorson top surrounded by the snow-clad mountains, a walk through golden oak forest in the Nanda Devi Biosphere reserve, a chairlift and warm Garhwali people justified our chosen summer destination.

Note : The food is crazy expensive, everything is about Rs 10 higher than MRP. It would be nice to book for a place to stay before going and you would not regret carrying jackets even in summers.
