Things you cannot miss in Amsterdam during the winter season.

1. Visit the beautiful Christmas markets.

The most happy and exciting part about winters in Europe is the beautiful Christmas markets that you get to visit around that time. I visited the one near Rijksmuseum. It looked like a dream, so beautifully lit up. You can eat, drink & shop the most exclusive stuff. Amsterdam looks like a winter wonderland at that time.

2. Pay a visit to the largest Christmas tree in the town.

The largest Christmas tree in Amsterdam is on the dam Square. It soars over 20 meters into the sky and is worth the visit. The whole area around is beautifully decorated. It is always crowded , so the best time to visit is either early morning or late at night. Dam square is the centre of the city, surrounded by branded stores and cafes. So you can visit the christmas tree and then head to shop and eat afterwards.

3. The divine Mulled wine.

Don’t miss out sipping on the Mulled wine. It is a traditional, and most popular drink in Europe during winter season. You get it everywhere at the local cafes, Christmas markets, fancy restaurants. Chilly wind, magical town and mulled wine, what else does one could ask for? Christmas celebration is incomplete without this.

4. Ice skating!!!

This is something I was most excited for. You cannot miss this ritual if you are in Europe for your holiday. It is one of most fun things to do in winters. I had to wait for 40 minutes for my turn as it was too crowed, so one has to manage the time and wait in the queue as well. Nevertheless it’s worth the wait. You might as well make friends with the Dutch kids. Who knows?

5. Shop winter stuff from Primark store for as cheap as 1 euro.

Who doesn’t like winter shopping especially when you can buy it from the cheapest store in Europe i.e Primark. I bought the cutest boots and jackets for 10-15 euros. You shouldn’t miss out on the crazy deals. Its a heaven for shopaholics. Girls you won't regret this.

6. Have the super delicious cheesy fries from the legendary Mennekin pis.

I had these fries every single day on my trip to Amsterdam. The best fries I ever had in my life. Super awesome. You can choose from a huge variety of 22 sauces and trust me it’s the best thing in the whole word. You just cannot come to Amsterdam and not have them.

7. Walk around the red light street and try some space cake at Bulldog.

They say walking around is the best way to explore a city and I couldnt agree more. Walking around gives you the best view of the city and you explore so many places that weren’t on your list or the Internet like I found this Amazing lil café, whose churros was to die for. Also while roaming around I found this coffee shop , which I was already told to visit (late realization) and try their space cakes. The experience was weird though but when in dam try the damn thing.
