Horsley Hills - Weekender from Bangalore

Tripoto

This tucked away hill station is a perfect weekend getaway from Bangalore and cane be easily travelled on a backpackers budget!
Just take a APRTC BUS from Bangalore till a small town called Manadanapalli in Andhra. This is nice 2-3 hour journey where you are see the changing landscape from flower farms to those Rocky mountains.
Once in the city, take a local bus to Horsley hills. This will cost you Rs 30 and you will be dropped at the base of the mountain. Funnily enough all through the journey you will never realize that we are nearing a hill station. I couldn't even see or understand where the 'Hill' was even when they dropped me off at the base!
From here there are Jeep's which will take you to the top. For a solo Traveller, you might have to wait a bit to get see other onboard as these cahrge you well.
The ride up the mountains is a beautiful journey and all those Rocky mountains you saw in your bus rides will now be visible in panorama.
Book you stay with either AP rest house or the Horsley hills homestay. Whiel the state run stays have better quality the latter is a decent option but very basic.
There are 2 major view points, an open slidingoubtain area for bravehearts and some extra tourist activities like foot fish spa, Kerala massage, hourly paid swimming pool. Just make sure to book well in advance.
Enjoy!!
