To get a break from the hustle and bustle of city life, we decided to visit Mussoorie, the Queen of hills. After a long search on various sites and reading reviews about different stay options, we came across by Rokeby Manor, in Landour cantt , Mussoorie.
So we started early in the morning(around 6 am)on 22 Aug from ludhiana. Only the two of us(me and my husband), long drive, awesome weather, soothing music and nice roads.
We decided to choose the way... Ludhiana>Ambala>Yamunanagar>Paonta Sahib>Herbertpur>Dehradune>Mussoorie>Our Destinaton. It took us around 7 hours(Distance ~300kms and 2 stays in between) to reach Mussoorie and 40 min(Distance ~35kms) from there to reach RokeBy Manor. Google maps helped us arrive the destination.
The way from mussoorie to Landour Cantt is awesome. Narrow lanes, sharp turns, serenity, greenery and cleanliness all around. And one of these sharp turns led us to Rokeby Manor.
As we entered at around 1:45 pm, a classic entry gate welcomes us to the reception area. We completed our formalities and then one of the hotel staff accompanied us to our room. As the gates of our room opened, we could see the 19th century decor. This place was originally built in 1840 and its still restored to its original beauty .
We took a rest for an hour and then decided to visit the area.
Few metres away from Rokeby is a place named "Char Dukaan" . You can enjoy yummy food and tea on the roadside here. We tried fried momos and they were delicious. There's an old church at this place.
After then, we drived to the highest point in Landour-Mussoorie "Lal-Tibba". Its at a height of 7700 ft. From the point, we can have a glimpse of himalayan peaks.
After seeing the Lal Tibba hill, we moved to Landour Bakehouse, the bakery of Rokeby Manor. The bakery has a nice ambience with lots of bakery food options.
The hotel person told us that they have opened new restaurants in the place nearby, so next we decided to get a look of them. We vistied The Stray Dog and Stubli restaurants. They have a nice ambience with open-air deck.
After a lookup of the area, we came back to the hotel. We had tea in their tea garden. The tea garden has an amazing view. In the evening, the whole of Mussoorie and Dehradune can be seen.
We had dinner at their restaurant "Emily" which serves finger-licking food. The decor inside the restaurant is very nice.
Next morning, we checked out from the hotel and went back to our city lives. It was a nice stay and a rejuvenating experience.
