Surrounded by eight of the 14 world's highest peaks, the country of Nepal is considered as a trekker's paradise. Along with the stunning views of mountains, Nepal also maintains several natural reserves which are home to some unique flora and fauna. With seven world heritage site within 20 square km of radius, Kathmandu is also an attractive tourist destination. This religious country attracts pilgrims to the local shrines where prayer flags adorn the structures. Here is an itinerary for you to experience the best of Nepal in seven days.

Visa

Indian nationals do not require a visa to enter Nepal. Visitors of all nationalities, except Indians, need to obtain a visa-on-arrival to enter Nepal. The tourist visa is valid for 15, 30 and 90 days.

Day 1

Start your journey from a small lake city of Nepal which is a gateway to the Annapurna circuit of the Himalayas. Pokhara has beautiful landscapes and beautiful people. There are many things in store for you in this city.

9:00-9:30: Have a light breakfast at the Juicery Cafe before the adventure. This place is known for its fresh cold-pressed juices and smoothies. The cafe is just 10 km away from next destination in Sarangkot.

10:00-12:30: At Sarangkot, you can go for parasailing and paragliding. It will give you a bird's eye view of the Annapurna circuit of the Himalayas. This is a once in a lifetime experience that should not be missed.

1:00-8:00: Take a break after an adventurous morning session. At dusk, visit the famous Begnas Lake and Phewa Tal which are just 18 km away from each other. Spend your evening by the lake at any of the many restaurants in the area.

Day 2

9:00-9:30: Most of the places planned for today are for sightseeing, so you can have a sumptuous champion's breakfast at the Old Mike's Kitchen located on the lakeside.

10:00-12:00: This place is just 5 km away from Old Mike's Kitchen. Gupteswar Gupha is a sacred 3 km long cave which holds religious significance for the Hindus. Also, there is Davis Fall nearby, which is a waterfall and has an underground passage behind it.

12:00- 1:00: Take a tour of this Buddhist Stupa which is a symbol of peace all around the world and also a UNESCO World Heritage Site.

4:00: Leave from Pokhara for Sauraha which is a 2 hrs and 30 min of car journey. A small village located near the Chitwan National Park. Here you will encounter the wildlife of Nepal and walk in the midst of jungles.

Day 3

10:00-6:00: Experience the jungle safari at Chitwan National Park. This world heritage site is known for tigers and white horn rhinos. Spend an adventurous day in the wild and experience the thrill. You can also visit the Beeshazari Tal which is in the buffer zone.

7:00: After a full day jungle safari, return back to Sauraha and relax for the night.

Day 4

9:00-12:30: Take a flight to Kathmandu from Bharatpur( 30 minutes away from Sauraha). The flight journey is approximately 3 hours.

2:00-4:00: Once in Kathmandu, you can visit the Patan Museum. A UNESCO World Heritage Site, Patan museum beholds the traditional art and illustrations of Nepal. The museum will help you peek into Nepal's cultural history.

6:00-7:00: Trekking in the Everest requires additional days in the itinerary, so book yourself a flight tour of the majestic Himalayas. The grand mountain peaks with the sunset in the backdrop create an awe-inspiring picture that is unforgettable.

Day 5

9:00-10:00: Begin your day with healthy breakfast at Himalayan Java Coffee which is known for the best Nepali coffee.

10:30-12:30: Take a tour of the Swayambhu Maha Chaitya, a traditional architecture of Nepal which is adorned with Buddhist prayer flags on all sides. The site has a Stupa and few shrines in the courtyard.

3:00-5:00: Kathmandu Durbar Square is an attractive tourist spot in Kathmandu. The place is known for the Old Royal Palace that sits right in front of the square. With exquisite architecture on all sites, this UNESCO World Heritage Site is a great place to learn about Nepal's history.

6:00-9:00: Shop your heart out at the SK Handicraft Exports, famous for its handicraft products. The Durbar Marg is another great shopping option for anyone looking for high-end brands.

Day 6

9:00-10:00: Start your day with a masala chai served at Electric Pagoda. The place has a variety of breakfast options. As per the experts, goat cheese salad and breakfast burritos are a must try.

11:00-1:00: On your journey, make sure to halt at One Tree Stop which is an absolute treat for eyes for any art lover. A gallery filled with works of local craftsmen which promotes the small-scale business industries in the country.

4:00-6:00: Pashupatinath temple located on the banks of Bagmati river, is another UNESCO World Heritage Site in Nepal. There are 6 other temples and 184 small shrines inside the complex itself. Further, several similar temples have been built outside the complex. This place is a cultural heritage of India that depicts various aspects of Hindu religion.

7:00: Leave for Nagarkot which is 30 km away from Kathmandu.

Day 7

Nagarkot is a secluded destination in Nepal. After 6 days of travelling and exploring, if you need a day for yourself just to relax in peace in the midst of nature, then this is the place just for you. There are several options for hotels or stays in Nagarkot. Enjoy the picturesque sunrise, sunset and the hills from your balcony and get ready to end your trip on a peaceful note.
