I am not a blogger & this is my first time writing a travel experience. My narration can be boring, so please bare with me & I would keep it as short as possible.
It's a three day weekend, since the independence day falls on monday this year. After a week long search we decided that we'll give kolukkumalai a try. All the arrangements are made & we're ready to leave first thing in the morning. We're ready to leave at 4.30 am & my friend at 4.30 am, says that he cannot come for some reasons. I've planned this trip for a week, dreamed about it for a week & now he says he cannot come. But since i am a guy who loves solitude, thought this is a blessing in disguise. It's going to be Me & Mother nature all along at kolukkumalai.
Reached Suryanelli by afternoon, which is the base of the kolukkumalai. Then a one hour bumpy off road jeep ride will take me to Kolukkumalai. I reached the base camp at 6 pm. Stayed at a beautiful quechua tent, and with a campfire dinner. Good night
Happy Independence day & the best ever sunrise i've seen in my lifetime is at Kolukkumalai since it lies on the eastern side of the western ghats. Some photo session with my official photographer, the Simpex tripod. Had my breakfast & left for the Top station trek. Made some friends who are from Kerala. After a half hour difficult trek reached the summit, from there it's a beautiful view and Meesapulimala(second highest peak in south India) looked majestic. I hope one day i would reach the peak of Messapulimala. The descent was easy & I reached the base camp at the afternoon. Also visited the Tea factory which is the highest organic tea factory in the world. The things you buy before you leave is Tea, Tea, & more Tea. Bought lot of Tea packets & left for Suryanelli.
