Tooth Mountain Farms
Tooth Mountain Farms is a 20 acre boutique farm stay in Karjat, just a 2 hour drive from Mumbai. It is a collective effort of an entire family of the very famous film and television personality Dr. Ramanad Sagar, Tooth Mountain Farms was their retirement home away from the city. We recently spent a weekend here, and this farm has everything for nature enthusiasts like us. With uniquely done up five rooms, all named after the flowering trees growing at the farm, Amaltas, Palash, Parijat, Ashmantak and Basant Rani, a private man made lake, a pool with a very gorgeous sunset view, a farm to table restaurant, a plant nursery, and an art village.
We stayed at the Basant Rani room, which was right next to the outhouse where all the farm animals stayed, located at the backside of the farm. Our stay here was filled with nature based activities. Early mornings began with spending some time with cows, ducks and their cute little dog named "lockdown", then having our morning coffee right by the lake and watching the sunrise. We cycled around the entire farm to finally having the most delicious breakfast with fresh fruits, peanut butter, jams and eggs. They really take the farm to table concept seriously and every meal here was as fresh as you can imagine.
We took a full tour of their organic farm and kitchen garden where they grow all their produce from vegetables to herbs, and also the art village which had a plant nursery and some unique pieces of art for sale. Mumbai based interior designer Shabnam Gupta, who is also the member of this family has a stunning store here in between this lush green farm. Our all evenings here were by the pool which is right in the centre of the farm with a gorgeous sunset view, perfect to unwind. To keep you busy there is a play room which is the main villa in the farm, and on special requests activities like kayaking , trekking to tooth mountain, and nature walks are available too for the guests.
All the plants and greenery around the farm, freshly cooked homestyle meals, staying between birds and animals, watching the sunrise and sunset by the lake sipping coffee, all of this was rejuvenating and refreshing. Tooth Mountain Farms is a perfect getaway from the city of Mumbai to unwind and connect to nature.
