Day 8

Title is for the dynamism of this trip, the decision to go for a drive, visit Malvan do the sports n come back within 36 hrs was all dynamic. On a lazy Monday evening( after a heavy start to the week) while relaxing at home I got a call from my friend ,going Malvan to drop his friends parents at native place returning back alone, r u hopping in? Mind bitten by a travel bug, bored by routine just jumped up high and yes I hopped in with my friend n broommm....
(Big thanks to my boss for casually sanctioning my one day leave n dear wifey for letting me in)
So we drove overnight from Thane to Malvan via express way to Pune n continued till Kolhapur. Being a night journey traffic was minimal n our pace was better than normal.
From Kolhapur we took the gaganbawda route. It was something different feel to see the empty streets of Kolhapur at night... By the time we reached Gaganbawda ghat morning rays were reaching the sky, that's where we took a photo break.
Traversing through the curvaceous ghat roads we ended up reaching Kanakavali at day light. A quick snacks break and we were on our forward journey. Just after Katta market( a centralised market place for nearby villages) we took a detour towards chafekaul. By this time the sleepless night and the breakfast was giving a hangover.
Reached the destination , a beautiful bunglow . A nice bath and we wished each other sweet dreams.
A power nap ended for good 4 hrs time n woke up to a delicious konkani lunch. (Nachani bhakri, kulta bhaji ....)
After the pet Pooja was time to explore the flora n fauna and eyes stumbled upon the n number of mangoes swaying on trees. We did all the monkey work to get our hands on this delicious fruit... Known as Falancha Raja( King of fruits) Amba (Mango).
Boxes were packed n we waived sayonara to uncle aunty.
Now was time to reach Malvan some odd 20 kms to cover n explore the beaches. Within short span of time we were in Malvan.
First look at Beach, the fresh air , n it soothens your eyes, mind and soul.
Many fishing boats were floating on waves, tide to each other, the wave was creating a symphonic movement of all the boats in line , it was magical.
In the middle of the beach was a majestic Sindhudurga fort.
One can hop in for a boat ride to the fort from shore. Tickets can be availed at the beach.
Another tourist attraction at Malvan is the Scuba dive near Sindhudurga Fort. I craved for this dive since last three years but failed to reach here in time.
Scuba dive is non operational during the monsoon months from end of may till start of October. It's better to confirm the date online before coming here during the end and start period. One can find many Scuba organisers at Beach and can opt for any one. A trip will include boat ride to dive site, 20-25 mins dive in with instructor with prior small training, 8-10 underwater photographs with a short movie clip with natural wonders.
After some negotiations with the Scuba organisers we hopped in boat which will take us to the corals near Sindhudurga Fort.
One does not need to know how to swim, but shall carefully follow the instructions and hand gestures explained and you will be guaranteed delighted to explore the treasure of corals.
With heartful of emotions u come to the surface n delighted heart just makes u dance on the tunes played on a boat.
While returning from fort to the shore we were speechless and we were just observing the vast ocean, trying to fill in n settle emotion full heart.
This is where I realised the meaning of a quote" Travelling leaves u speechless, n turns u into a storyteller afterwards".(which I am doing now)
Just off the beach there is a big local market, where u can buy local souvenir, spices and many more ...
Many hotels are available around the beach at a reasonable price. N number of options are available on net too. You can avail pre booking also.
Now, after some shopping it was time for the real beach food, the yummy fishes n curry.
Pet full dinner and we waived good bye to Malvan with a big smile which lasted over entire night keeping us fresh and awake throughout.
And yes this is how we did our Sairat ( spontaneous, undirection, undecided) visit to Malvan in less than 36 hrs. ;)
