Peb fort or Vikat gad fort is located approximately 10 Km from the Neral railway station in the raigad district.
Vikatgad or Peb fort is a favourite destination for one-day trekkers.
This fort is in continuation with the Malang gad, Tahuli Hill and Chanderi Fort of the Matheran Hill Range.
it’s conveniently accessible by public transport.
Peb fort is the ideal trek for anyone looking for a good excursion close to Matheran.
This trek is approximately 2100 feet above MSL.

Difficulty Level :  Easy to Moderate

Location : it is located around 80 Km from Mumbai and approximately 120 km from Pune.

Nearest Railway station : Neral

How to reach Neral Railway station:

1. If you're travelling from Mumbai, then a local train is the best way to reach Neral Railway station.(Karjat/Khopoli Train)

2. If you're travelling from pune, take early morning express to reach the karjat railway station and from karjat, you can easily reach Neral by a local train running towards CSMT.

Since Peb fort is in the hill ranges of Matheran, once you reach the Neral Railway station, there are few cab services running till the Matheran. The cab fare is 100 Rupees per person.

Once you reach Matheran, Start walking along the railway track towards the fort.
The route is very narrow.
There are few trees on the trekking route.
It takes about an hour to reach the entrance stairs of the fort.
Along the route, you can see the famous kadya Ganpati Idol (Known as kadya varcha Ganpati).

The trek path becomes slippery during monsoon so be careful while trekking.
Along the route, you can see many beautiful waterfalls.

It takes almost 2/2.5 hours  to reach the top of the fort.

A datta temple has been constructed at the top of the fort and it is known as "Prati Girnar Temple".

From the top of the fort, The peb fort trekking lets you experience the perfect combination of the mesmerizing beauty of the greenery and the panoramic scenic view of the blissful mountains.

Best time to visit Peb fort:
Undoubtedly, the monsoon months of July, August and September are the best time to visit the Peb Fort as the surroundings are lush green and the weather is extremely pleasant but remember, for the most part of the day the surroundings may not be visible from the fort due to the heavy fog.
