When I think about the trek, I start getting tense..after a hectic week's office workload, we always wanted to spend a holiday in a quiet place by doing nothing, just chill, eat, sleep and repeat…
But one Sunday my partner decided to go for trekking and convinced me too…
It's a one-day trek to Peb fort (named after the goddess Pebi Devi) aka Vikatgad fort. The trek path to Vikatgad is deep ravines and cliffs. It's close to Matheran as well as Neral Station.
We both are Mumbai based, so we decided to catch a train from Dadar Railway station in the early morning for Neral (it costs around 80rs both ways per person).. it took us around 1hrs 30min aprox to reach Neral station from Dadar.
After getting down at Dadar you can catch a toy train to Matheran...or you can get the auto-rickshaw which costs around 100rs max that will leave you to the trek start point.
The trek is medium-level...it takes 4hrs max to reach to the top..on the top there is Ganpati temple..the view is amazing, breathtaking.
On the way to return we came by the Matheran route, it took less than 3hrs...we reached Matheran from there we got the taxi and came back to the Neral station.
I am not a trekking person, it is the first time I have done this trek...but in the end, every effort I made to climb up was worth… this trek taught me not to give up by only seeing the size of the problem... try fighting it hard, in the end; you will get what you want...
