One thing that I love about Rainbow waterfalls is that the difficulty in reaching this place has given it an advantage to remain untouched by commercialisation. To reach this waterfall, you have to do a 3-4 hours of trek and the trek starts from a village called Tyrna.

We actually started the trek a day earlier. After some 3500 odd steps we reached Serene Homestay where we stayed for the night.

Next morning, after having the delicious porridge with fruits and nuts, we left for Double Decker Root Bridge and Rainbow waterfalls. Double Decker is actually just a 2 minutes walk from the homestay. It’s so beautiful that we actually lost track of time. After soaking it all in, we started trekking for the Rainbow waterfalls. After a point of time, the walkable roads were vanished and we were mostly walking on uneven soil or climbing rocks.

En route we met many villagers and fellow backpackers who were returning from the trek. You will find couple of shops that will provide you with water, Amul drinks and fruits like pineapple, cucumber, etc.

You know, before going there I’d heard so much about how beautiful the Rainbow waterfall is and truly, when we reached there I can’t tell you how breathtaking and heavenly it was to witness the Rainbow crossing the falls. It was 6 of us and we had the best time watching the beautiful falls, swimming and splashing water on each other.
