Where are we going? Why are we going? Where will we end up? "Well I think, we will go anywhere as long as it is forward, I said." These are the lines i remember i said when we left from jaipur gearing up to explore the DRYLAKE, the largest inland saline lake of India, located about 80 Km from Jaipur city.It was a hot day in march, sultry and scorching when 4 of us departed from jaipur hitting the NH-8 and swinging all along the width of NH-8 to overtake trucks , trucks and more trucks … it felt like the video game we used to play in video parlors. After crossing the toll on ajmer highway we reached dudu village. As you leave the highway, you start to get closer to thereal world, old buildings, cattle, kids, tractors with double trolleys, many more cattle. Asking about the way from people on the road, we reached naraina village. By the time we reached Sambhar, it was noon.We got into the town and asked for the route. After spending some time with locals , we could not figure out much. Most of the folks wanted us to visit Shakambri Mata temple. After a while of driving, we got back to the pucca road and moved towards Temple. We parked our bikes near the temple. The temple was at the base of this hill, Its a revered temple in this region, there we had 'prashad' and came down. Now we were looking for at the extra-extra-extra-ordinary place. I had seen such a place only in the pictures of moon. This place seems to be the end of earth canand one easily see the demarcation line for earth. On our front, left and right there was just flat, white, reflecting surface. We tried hard to see the end with our naked eyes, but failed. I stared for sometime and felt that I can feel the roundness of earth.on one side there was part of the factory where salt is made. This place reminded on of some old black and white movies. The best part was there, there was no one around and we had a deep inspecting of the place. We started to walk but were not able to see the horizon. We took our bike and rode inside. Finally, we came to the point where we were able to see a mud boundary on the flat surface and i was very eager to see whats behind. i started runnning towards that blindly and ignored the moist belt of mud By the time i realised it was moist i was into mud till knee length and could see my friend laughing on me standing at the back. The moment when i was getting into it felt i would never come back. my breathe almost stopped for a while and i shouted for help. It was fun. we stayed there for sometime, i cleaned up and clicked some picture and decided to return as it was getting late. So we moved back towards jaipur. On our way back we took a break to finish the Parantha's we carried with us at village habaspura. There we saw women carrying water vessels on their head from the same water body where the animals were taking bath on the other side. After some time children jumped inside the water to take a bath. Old men were sitting under the tree shadow and smoking 'beedi'. I wish I could become invisible and keep seeing this life style for some time. The people were little bit consious to see a guy from some city. but, as we had less time we ate and packed up. By evening we reached the pink city after an unfogettable trip. TIPS:- 1) Carry water and food with yourself. 2) Don't forget to eat golgappas at naraina.(uncle has FSSAI approved golgappas stall) 3)Ask for sambhar lake instead of sambhar from the people on road. HAPPY TRAVELLING! xD
