Day 1

Koh Larn is a must visit if you are in Pattaya. If you are in Pattaya for just one day, this is that one place to visit! Koh Larn Island is a small island located off the coast of the mainland and it takes 30-40 minutes by ferry to reach the Na Bann Pier in Koh Larn. You will get a ferry from the Bali Hai Pier in Pattaya. The ferry ride costs 30 Baht each way per person. You can also get a speedboat which costs anywhere between 150-300 Baht per person depending on your negotiation skills and it takes less time.

Koh Larn Island is famous for water activities like parasailing, banana boats, jetski and snorkeling. The prices are on the higher side, however. You can get a package deal as well. Or else, you can simply explore the island and visit the beaches and temples. Once you get down at Na Baan Pier, you can either rent a bike for 300 Baht or walk by yourself. I preferred to do a small trek to the top of the hill to visit a temple. There's a giant statue of a monk who used to live there and could turn saltwater into freshwater. Not many people are aware of this place and the road to this temple is very steep. But the view from this place was quite awesome! Once could see the Gulf of Thailand and Ta-Waen Beach from there.

Then followed a downhill trek to the other side of the island to Ta-Waen beach. The entire trek took me probably an hour. Ta-Waen beach is the place where you can take part in water sports. Ta-Waen beach is the most popular beach on this island, boasting white sand beach and turquoise blue water, but it is very crowded at the same time.

Towards the right side of Ta-Waen beach is Koh Larn Beach, named after the island. However, on the left side is a wooden bridge that takes you to an underrated gem, Italay Sang Man Beach. Do try to visit the beach. The wooden bridge is brightly painted in white and is hard to miss out!

From the Italay Sang Man Beach, you can walk to Ta-Waen Pier instead of doing a reverse trek. From this pier, you will get a ferry back to Pattaya mainland for another 30 Baht. It is recommended to reach the Bali Hai Pier by 9.30 AM to catch the 10 AM ferry. You can easily spend 4-5 hours on the island but make sure to catch the latest ferry by 4 pm back to Pattaya.
