This fort is located at the border of Sariska Tiger Reserve in the district of Alwar, Rajasthan. It was build in the 17th century and has been known as the most haunted place in India. It is reported that there have been experiences and happenings in the fort premises which happened the villages to sprung at a minimum of 2 kilometers away due to the fear lying within; even the Archeological Survey of India has banned the tourists and locals anywhere near the fort at night. This completely ruined place and has an eerie and spooky feeling around.

As we arrived to the spookiest place in India, we took a guide to give us a brief about the place because it was astonishing of how the destructions occurred and how many legends have attested the paranormal happenings in the fort.

The History

It was built in the 17th century by Man Singh I. The guide informed us that there are two sides to the story:

Story 1:

The first story is about the king Madho Singh who was the Successor of Man Singh, kept raising the Bhangarh Fort with permission from Bala Nath, the then saint by agreeing to the condition that the shadow of the fort will never fall upon the home of the saint otherwise it will be destroyed in moments. But as fate would have it, the ambitious successor of Madho Singh reconstructed the fort vertically which cast an ominous shadow on the abode of Bala Nath. The stated prophecy stood executed and the Bhangarh Fort was destroyed instantly.

Story 2:

A second legendary story probably more famous than the first, princess Ratnavati was the one behind this destruction. A black magician lived along the fort fell in love with her and spell magic on her perfume which when she uses will make her fall for him. The princess identified the conspiracy and poured the perfume on a stone which crushed the black magician to death. While he was dying, he cursed the place that no one will ever be able to live near or inside the fort.

The fort is dark inside and has lots of bats living making it supernaturally weird. We never believed in ghosts so we went on making fun of the place to which the guide frowned several times.

Just before the sunset, we were guided outside the fort and after having some food we started our journey back.

This was the vehicle we hired

Just 15 minutes into the journey we experienced an unexplainable weird feeling of something was sitting at the back seat of our SUV. We were still making fun of the situation when suddenly the left tire slipped. We were stopped in a jolt when the driver informed us that he needs time to get it checked. We were stranded in a deserted dark place where I could see a bulb lighting at a minimum distance of one kilometer, we could only hear crickets, frogs, and toads.

We were shocked when the driver informed us that the screws of the tire loosened in motion. He was surprised at how he didn't know about the situation fifteen minutes back and how he started the journey after double-checking the car in the morning. We all were confused and scared.

The driver kept on saying that we have been given an ultimatum for making fun of a place that is famous for being uncanny. We were pretty sure that it was a coincidence but our driver believed otherwise.

The rest of the journey the driver kept us engaged with all the mysterious stories he heard and witnessed in his lifetime.

I still can't explain the feeling I had that day. It was creepy but worth remembering.
