Day 1 though starts from a much crowded city of Coimbatore. Reach Coimbatore by train or flight whichever convenient. The journey by train is better as it takes you through the mountains and not above them!

Travel through gorgeous mountains of Mettupalayam and reach kotagiri from where you can go to ooty as well as coonoor.

Continue exploring the tea gardens.
Go for a trek on the mountains and feel their height. The view from top is definitely worth the climb. Take rest for the rest of the day.
Drive to ooty.
Visit the very beautiful avalanche lake. Experience how undisturbed nature feels like. If you're lucky you'll get to see some wild animals around. If not then the mystical fog makes your journey magical!
Visit the kodanadu view point on your drive back. The sunset view from here is supposed to be great unless fog spoils it for you!
Later enjoy the starry night.
Travel to coonoor. Experience the famous toy train which runs between Ooty and coonoor. You can visit the coonoor station to see how the engines are maintained.
On the drive back to Coimbatore the hair pin turns will make you want to visit this place again!
