I am always fascinated about road trips. It gives me the freedom to rekindle the inner happiness. It provokes me to live the life fully. It might me due to the fact that I am starving for a fast moving life which amuses my each time. This time I was travelling to Jim Corbett, the most awaited trip of my recent times. This time I was travelling in my red beast Kia Sonet, which was another reason to be cherished. The day before the trip I was quite circumspect about my trip as it was raining heavily in Gurgaon & weather forecast for Corbett was not encouraging though. Any how we started our journey on 17th morning around 5:30am. It was not raining at that time.

Day 1

The majestic Ganga !

By 7:30 we reached to our first destination, i.e Garh Mukhteswar. It was a serene place situated on the banks of the river Ganga. The calmness of the mighty river was so elusive. Thanks to the well maintained roads, we had covered roughly 140 km in 2 hours. It was a much needed break & I was refreshed to drive continue. Till now my Sonet was getting a healthy mileage of 18kmpl.

It was time for breakfast. So we had decided to make it a picnic.

The drive was smooth. Once you cut from the National Highway to State highway, the traffic was heavy. Be careful while following Google Maps blindly. After few hours of agony we entered into the Jungle area of Corbett. The roads were narrow, but it was well maintained.

Not always google maps help you

If you find any caution like this, trust it blindly. Drive some extra miles rather being caught in a middle of no where.

After taking a brisk rest for 2 hours , we decided to explore the near by area. Though it was a land locked area, having a river at one side & dense jungle at other side, we had only option to enjoy the mother nature.

The best part of staying in a cottage near to river is having his perks. One could get a early morning river bed walk and one can enjoy the freshness of Vitamin D. But be careful while you are doing so. Because during early morning many wild animals often visit to river in quest of water.

The next morning after having our breakfast, we decided to visit Garjiya mata mandir, which is situated roughly 25km from our cottage. It is a beautiful temple situated in the middle of river Kosi. If you are visiting Corbett, then this place must be in your bucket list. Sitting inside the river had its own persona. It was elusive & enviable. People of all age groups are enjoying inside the river. It was noon & Sun was on his full course. The humidity was quite unbearable. But the magnum view was quite amazing.
