Sri Kshetra Deviramma is a temple located at the foot of chandradrona hills, now commonly know as baba budanagiri hills, near Chikkamagaluru town. Located amidst paddy fields, this temple is one of my favourite places to spend some time relaxing and enjoying the peace, quiet and calming influence offered by some temples.
Hindu mythology states that goddess Deviramma is the calm and composed version of goddess Chamundeshwari, the slayer of Mahishasura and the main diety of Chamundi hills near Mysore. After slaying the demon king on vijayadashami, the goddess apparently traveled to the Chadradrona hills to allow her anger to dissipate and took the form of goddess deviramma and blessed her devotees.
The small temple located in the hills of baba budanagiri is open for deveotees only during Deepavali and a lot of people trek up the hills to visit the temple and enjoy the beauty of the hills.
